I also picked up a 30HF83C for ~1650 Canadian including taxes at my local A&B Sound here in Edmonton. This is my first 16:9 set so of course to me it looks totally awesome even coming off an old Toshiba SD-2700 non-progressive scan player. I've only had it for 6 days but I love it. I...
I picked it up too. I watched it a couple times. I'm not a long time DM fan, my wife got me into them when I met her 4 years ago. Overall, I thought it was great. The music was execellent. Martin playing the accoustic guitar was fabulous. Like others mentioned, I wasn't all that...
I hope i'm not alone. I have a simple setup: 27" TV, Marantz SR5200 receiver and a Toshiba SD-2700 DVD player.
I need some tips on making this setup easier to use. I bought an All-4-One Cinema 7 remote and programmed it out the wazzo. I also made a nice little quick reference card about...
I have a few NAD pieces and I love them. I don't know how anyone can say they look ugly. The flat matte gray gives them a very distinct look. I think several companies even try to capture the distinct look. Compare pictures of Outlaw and AMC gear to NAD and I think you'll see some...
I have a NAD T750 reciever with 5.1 inputs. When these inputs are selected, is the preamp section bypassed completely (volume, tone, etc don't work)? How do most amps with X.1 inputs handle them.
Thanks.
I've struggled with the same issue for years. Solen, to be blunt, is a total rip off. I usually just end up ordering from Madisound. Even after exchange, tax and associated collection fees, it's still cheaper than Solen. It's quite disappointing.
Ok, i did the test with the Depeche Mode 86-98 disc. There is absolutely no delay when skipping to those tracks. I hear the music right from 0:00.
I tried with both coax and optical connections and got the same results. I do get the delay with DD and to a lesser degree with DTS
Marantz...
Although I'm quite peeved with my SR5200, I somehow feel the need to defend Marantz. I've owned a few pieces (err 5 to be exact) of Marantz gear. With the exception of a burned out light in an old receiver from the 70's, i've never had a single problem of any kind. They've alway been very...
Jeffery Jones,
I honestly thought your first post that included the line...
"This seems about as misplaced as the hatred for Microsoft in the computer industry."
...was some clever sarcasm until I was three quarters of the way through it.
It's amazing that people can have opinions...
Interesting you should mention the "leakage" from input to input.
The first SR5200 I had this problem. I completely forgot about this. I had the TV connected to the TV inputs and I had the TV on. I switched to the CD and to the VCR1 inputs and I could still hear the TV. It was all full of...
I have an SR52000.
My first receiver had video noise, so I returned it without even watching a single DVD.
My second one has no video noise and the same amount of audio noise on analog inputs as the NAD it replaced. (Very little)
It does suffer from audio drop outs when I pause a DVD. It...
I'm a little late coming into this discussion, but I thought I'd chip in my 2 cents on this movie.
I'm 24, married, no kids. I never read any of the books. The only thing i knew about Harry Potter is that he was some kinda wizard kid. My wife read the first couple books and she really liked...
My (2nd) SR5200 does the same thing. I really noticed it while playing with the special features on the Shrek disc. It is very annoying. I'm using a Toshiba SD-2700 with the coax output. I'm going to try an optical cable and see what happens. If that doesn't solve it, I'll try some different...
I have the SD-2700 and i'm very impressed with it. Infact, I can't think of one thing I don't like about it. I believe the only difference between it and the SD-2710 is the 2700 has HDCD decoding and the 2710 has MP3.
Get it!
This is turning into a monster thread.
My SR-5200's:
The first unit, Korea - MZ000130000400, had s-video problems. I never tested anything else. The second unit Korea - MZ000130000469 has a very very slight s-video problem. I wouldn't have noticed it if I wouldn't have been looking very...
I have a Toshiba SD-2700 and I'm using the coax to connect to my SR5200 and I'm not getting any "drop outs." I'm connecting the SPDIF out on my souncard to the other coax input and it is working flawlessly also.
I decided to test my SR5200 for noise last night so I made an audio track of "black noise" and put it in my CD player hooked up to the amp by digital coax. In stereo mode at 0dB, my ear had to be about 4" from the tweeter before i heard any hiss coming from the speaker. At +9dB (maximum...
If your AV-7 has 6 channel inputs (sometimes called "Dolby Digital Ready"), you should have no problems. The AV-560 is quite a nice unit.
How much are you able to get the AV-560 for?

My SR5200 says "Made in Korea" on the back of it.
I find this all quite surprising condering how much praise the SR8000 and SR7000 got last year.
Maybe S&V didn't realize you can turn it up passed 0db? ;-)
There HAD to have been a problem with the receiver S&V was testing. I upgraded from a NAD T750 (50x5) to a Marantz SR5200 (85x5) and the one this that REALLY stood out was how much LESS noise there was at high levels. I'm quite sure that I can't tell the difference between 50 and 85 watts per...
I used to be an ardent Sony supporter. Everything I owned was Sony, from clock radios to cordless phones to computer monitors. With the exception of a computer monitor and a transistor radio from the 60's, everything else of mine has died only a few years into it's life. My $100 clock radio...
I have an SR-5200 which I got at A&B sound in Edmonton for $725. It was listed at $799.
Bass Management: I was pretty skeptical about the 100Hz crossover myself, but so far it seems to work very nice.
S-Video switching: My original SR-5200 had the s-video problem. There were very...
I've always wanted to get something from there. Last summer I took a week off from work and built some Superwhamodynes from the plans on bottlehead.com and I was very impressed with the results. The NAD 3020 driving the Super's took a dirt nap last month so now might be a good time to get...
I finally made the plunge into the digital world from the analog Pro Logic world. I bought a Marantz SR-5200 and the first one I took home from the store had the s-video vertical line problem. I took it back to the store and after 30 minutes of A/B'ing and trying different cables, I finally...
