I just purchased the 52" LG. The chassis build is nice, and oh so light. Plenty of inputs and easy to navigate OSD, even though I find it a bit castrated compared to others. HD looks awesome, with analog really depending on source, with digital being about average. The set holds black very well...
I second the use of Samsung as a good 27" with 16:9 ability. Also, for about $1000, you can get a tv/receiver setup that is quite decent, that is minus the speakers of course, add another $200-$300 for a set of decent speakers.
The first thing I did with my old HTiB, was replace the speakers, with some nicer ones, RCA still, but alot better then the stock ones. Just finished watching Pirates of the Caribbean and the fourth time around was amazing, sounds truly are much better(DTS), and with DPL2, tv is so much better...
Let me just say wow! My RCA receiver was dying so I decided to go receiver shopping. I ended up with more then I expected and am quite pleased. I moved from DD radio shack RCA, to a Onkyo 5 dvd receiver with DTS and DPL2 and component switching. Well, with that my 27" RCA s-video just would not...
This will be a novice answer. But what I think you find, is with the "heavier" or larger" soundcards...more sound processing is handled on the card as opposed to being offloaded to the cpu. Now for example, a SB Audigy with the bay drive will have a higher sampling rate and performance wise is...
I absolutely loved the movie as a whole. I found the beginning to be slow and at times, pointless. (e.g., the Zion rave scene) However, they showed enough classic special effects like bullet time, and news one like freeway fight scenes, that you come out enjoying it just as much as the first...
Personally, I have not been in or related to any movies. However, I was on the set of the X-Files for the season finale, season before last (when Mulder is abducted). It was great, having lunch at the catering truck, Duchovney playing with a dog(taller then you think!) and Anderson only coming...
I am a fan of keepcases, but upon removing the wrapping from this recently purchased dvd, I noticed there were "latches" on the keep case. You actually have to unhinge these latches to open the keep case, is this really a useful feature, doesn't really matter to me, just wondered what everyone...
Well, anything over 32mb memory is there to support large texture sizes and ever increasing geometry in fps. Now the geforce 2 has memory clocked at around 200 mhz or so, but the geforce 3 has ddr memory, so the speed is doubled to around 400mhz. So even though it has less ram than geforce 2...
Digital cable, provided the cable company has a good feed, gets the job done. Just be sure that the stb has s-video and digital outs, as this improves the premium channel experience much more(for movies like Castaway). I enjoyed satellite when I had it, and enjoy digital cable now that it is...
First and foremost, drop all preconceptions, this is just an account of my experience of switching from cable to satellite to digital cable. I live with my grandmother and when I was young (15 years ago) I started playing around with connecting televisions in rooms without cable, this required...
Update on this: I called the number and they ask how I heard about the number, my name and address, reitereated the closest dealer and then mentioned that I may not get one because they were recently out of them. In any event, not a big hassle for a cool "promotional" item.
Seriously though, I have the RCA receiver one model below the one you are mentioning. The only difference is less watts and no DTS. I have enjoyed having the s-video connectivity, assignibility of audio inputs(analog, optical, coaxial) and when properly calibrated it provides a good setup for...
The cheapest solution is forgetting Hi-Fi exists and enjoy the phonograph. :p
