A single layer DVD is usually silver in color while a double layer DVD is golden in color. That is the only way I could figure out the difference.

Konrad, How do you connect a digital out to receiver for mp3 playback. I thought the mp3 decoder converts it to analog signal which needs to be hooked up through the A/V line-outs? If SD2800 is doing digital reconversion, it means it downconverting the mp3 format directly to a digital format...

I believe Toshiba SD-2800 is available for $120 in Costco. Seems to have all the features for a basic DVD player including mp3 playback. Can anyone currently using this player give their opinion?

Ken, I tried the auto-alignment feature but it would not recognize the disc. Actually tried it about 4 times as one of the posts suggested that it might work after multiple tries with no luck. Then I actually opened the box and tried cleaning the lens with inert gas and then a Q-tip. I looks...

Is there any information available on-line or otherwise on how to service a DVD player? My Sony DVPS360 died last week and it is out of warranty. I have tried all the usual fixes including cleaning the lens with no luck. A preliminary quote from a Sony service center for repairing it was $150...

I started playing my Men In Black DVD on my 1.5 year old Sony DVD player (DVP330) and the player hung after the opening Columbia Movies banner with a C-13 error. This was a brand new DVD fresh out of the shrink wrap. I removed the DVD, lightly cleaned it and tried again and it started playing...

I have pinnacle gold reference towers with the pinnacle widescreen center for my hometheater setup and am extremely happy with their quality. I got the pinnacle center speaker for $109 plus shipping from egghead.com. Don't know if it is still available there though.

I heard them in Best Buy a few months back and liked them a lot. I did not buy them though as I found Pinnacle speakers that I like for a lower price.
