Win a Denon X5200W 9.2 channel Dolby Atmos AVR with a copy of Insurgent on Blu-ray!

My dream Denon X5200W system would have the receiver in an active ventilated rack plugged into an 85" Sony XBR‑85X950B 4K TV and driven by a Denon BDT-3313DCT Blu-ray/Media Player, a Dish 4K Joey DVR, Apple TV, Sony PS4, Xbox One, Marantz TT-15S1 turntable. I'd have two Boston Acoustics M350...

Speakers to Fit on 5.9 inch Base

My wife has restricted me to a wall mount for my surround speakers that extends 5.9 inches from the wall, so the speakers could be a bit bigger than that, they just can't fall off of course. I curently have terrible junk speakers. They were surround speakers that came with a rack system I got in...

Need Help On Dimming Home Theater Lighting

My house was just built and I didn't have the ability to change the lighting system upon build, yet I would like to add a scene controlling dimming system to my home theater/great room that also features a remote. I'm thinking about it now and I really would like a total of 6 or 7 zones with...

    Uninterruptable Power Supplies

Well, the main thing you really need is a line conditioner. A line conditioner controls the power that goes into your device whether the power is on or off on your projector or receiver. Depending on who you talk to, it will also improve the video and sound quality as well of the devices. As for...

RG-6 A/V Distribution Network in New Home

My wife and I are purchasing a our first home that is being built and will be done in a bit less than two months, we'll plan to move cross-country just afterwards. The builder was building the house to sell (it's basically a custom home, but he's building it to sell) and most of the plans are in...

    Speaker Wire....BiWire vs. Single Wire??

That sounds like a great way to go if the crossover is matched to the speakers.

    Speaker Wire....BiWire vs. Single Wire??

Scott, I do agree. However, I would say that anyone bi-amping really needs to make sure that they're using the right amps at the right levels of power or they'll mess up the sound...so, yes, it can be great, but it could be worse if done incorrectly.

    Speaker Wire....BiWire vs. Single Wire??

Yeah, it's a strange elasticity of demand, I don't disagree with that. All I'm saying is that as a business they want to capture the highest amount of those dollars (or they should).

    Speaker Wire....BiWire vs. Single Wire??

Andrew, yeah, in theory, but people will spend as much as they can (unless they have more money than the know what to do with - small # of people).

    Speaker Wire....BiWire vs. Single Wire??

But cables can be very expensive (in the high end). Doesn't it mean that you won't have as much to spend on speakers and might get a lower model?

    Speaker Wire....BiWire vs. Single Wire??

Edit for Chu (but posting here since Wayde responded): I was thinking if I were doing it that it would basically be double the amount of cable traveling separately (in one jacket) to each set of terminals on the speaker from one terminal on the amp. Essentially talking about what should be...

    Speaker Wire....BiWire vs. Single Wire??

Chu, it would be interesting to hear the procedure. So if you take one length of 12AWG cable and turn it into two runs, basically then you're talking about 24AWG to each terminal, right?

    Speaker Wire....BiWire vs. Single Wire??

Good point, a while back, I actually called them to ask. They recommend the bi-wiring for my 20's and CC, and they don't have anything to gain. In fact, it's worse for them because you can't spend that extra money on speakers. BTW, if the bi-wire cable is the same price, it's not going to be...

    Speaker Wire....BiWire vs. Single Wire??

With bi-wiring, there's more to go wrong. You have more terminated connectors on the cable, and more binding posts you're using on the speaker (well, you're going to have to use the terminal through the jumper if you don't bi-wire), not to mention however you're connecting at the amp level will...

    Looking for large SILENT fans

Anthony, Wayne and Steve, Thank you so very much for all the detailed information you have provided. I have been reading your posts thoroughly and am trying to formulate a strategy. I think the main thing I’m now trying to determine is which fan(s) to get and how I want to wire it. I emailed...

    Looking for large SILENT fans

My Home Theater Gear Setup (as follows) works great for me, but the equpment is in a fairly enclosed space and I don't want the equip to get too warm. So, I'd like to install one or more fans in the back wall of each rack that are SILENT to cool it down. I could have them pulling air out...

    Uninterruptable Power Supplies

If you have the money battery power it all. If you're worried about the line conditioning, add another, APC output is going to be no worse than utility power for sure. Here's what I've done though (my computer network is FULL APC, but I'm talking A/V): Panamax Max 1000+ to cover all my...

    Controlling Satellite Receiver Hardware

RAF, Great! So, do you use these on multiple TVs? If so, what method to hook them together do you use? Connecting a couple that are close together seems easy, but beyond that it seems more difficult. Thanks again

    Controlling Satellite Receiver Hardware

Thanks a lot for the info. I don't assume that there is a DirecTV/TiVo or UltimateTV version of this. Do you (or someone else) have an idea as to the range on one of these units (working across 3 floors in a house)? Is there any way to use two of these in the same space and control each...

    Controlling Satellite Receiver Hardware

In reference to a post I have in the building home theater section for a whole system, I am wondering if there is good hardware to control Satellite Receivers that are a pretty large distance away (from 9 TV areas over 3 floors). I'm really looking for a wireless system because of the...

    Satellite Distribution System

I've been holding off getting a satellite system because I currently have 9 TVs in my house and don't want to have to get receivers for all of them. I've been considering getting a system with a RF Modulator to send the audio and video to the TVs. Since the coax quality won't be as good, I was...
