Anyone know a good strategy for scoring a Wii?

Here's my Wii adventure: I got up at 4:00am, looked out the window and saw snow coming down...heavy. After driving slow to Toys R Us, I pull in the parking lot to see cars, lots of cars. There was a line of about 35 or so people. The ones in front were in sleeping bags, in the driving...

    HD Camcorder - lame question

My neighbor has a DVD based camcorder (Sony I think) and has had nothing but trouble getting the files off the DVD and onto his computer for editing. Apparantly the file format only works with the proprietary software supplied by Sony (surprise, surprise). Don't know about HDD based cameras...

    HD Camcorder - lame question

Paul, Love the camera so far. Outdoor scenes (kids soccer games for starters) are amazing. Indoor scenes which generally can be low-light problems also look very good. There is a built in light on the camera but doesn't throw off all that much light. It takes very nice 3MP stills too...

    HD Camcorder - lame question

I recently replaced my 13 year old Sony 8mm camcorder with a Canon HV-20 High def camcorder. Got ot on a Labor Day Weekend sale at Circuit City. The camera records to miniDV tape. After recording, I transfer via firewire to my HTPC, which is connected to my main TV (Samsung DLP) and also to...

Survivor: China (Survivor #15) Discussion Thread

I think Judd's (from Survivor: Guatemala) reaction was better: "Thanks, guys. I hope you guys get bit by a freakin' crocodile. Scumbags."

Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos in 5.1!

I'm enjoying this release more and more with each listen. I watched the DVD "making of" earlier this week, pretty cool insight on how the writing/recording process goes down. Overall a solid disc, good to see these guys keeping up the intensity album after album.

Me too. The device is not bad although the one I got only holds 4GB. I've been using almost daily and it works as described.

    Rush: "Snakes and Arrows" discussion

Really looking forward to "Snakes and Arrows". I did listen to the 15 second snippet of Far Cry but I want to wait for the full CD to listen to it as a whole. Good year for music purchases: Rush, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree and Symphony X all releasing new titles this year!

    Bowling Ball drilling, NJ

I had my son's ball drilled at Circle Lanes in Ledgewood about 10 days ago. Took 15 minutes. The guy was very nice and drilled the holes one at a time, remeasuring before drilling the second and third holes.

    2006 Tax questions..

I've used TurboTax for years and think it's very simple even for out of the ordinary things like Stock Options and Stock Purchase Plans. Also it will check to see if you can download your W-2 information so you don't need to input it. The nice thing about using their State software is that it...

What's the best software to play DVD's

I use ZoomPlayer Pro w/ PureVideo decoder and ffDshow for resizing. If you're a tweak-aholic, ZoomPlayer has tons of settings, controls, adjustments, etc. If you just want to put the movie in and hit Play, use PowerDVD or Media Player Classic

    Whole home Humidifiers

When we had our furnace replaced about 4 years ago a furnace humidifier was added and it does make a difference. We have forced hot air and the house used to be noticibly drier in the winters. VGA out to Component in on HDTV...what am I doing wrong?

I always thought to go VGA to component you needed a "transcoder" which is a small converter box that cost about $150. I've never seen a VGA to component cable.

    Lost season 3 discussion....

I forget now but didn't his boss ridicule him for the excursion trip he was about to take (the "walkabout") or was it just for the game he was playing with his co-workers? I remember Locke responding back with "what I do on my own time is my own business". If it was regarding the trip then it...

1997 Toyota Camry I-4, Any Experiences?

My 97 Camry LE (6 cyl) will hit 130,000 miles this week. No major mechanical problems, still runs fine. I had the timing belt changed at about 90K when it was in for a tune-up. Hoping to get about 2 more years out of it.
