I have the Spanish R2 version, which I suspect is what Tartan used for their DVD. I've seen Sex and Lucia several times in the cinema, and didn't notice anything missing - the erect penis is still there, which would probably be the one thing that would get cut from the film (although I'm sure...
When I looked through the Fox press release about their upcoming titles, A Bridge Too Far was the diamond in the rough for me. However, despite pretty much every other disc from that announcement being available to pre-order at most online stores and being on the Fox Blu-Ray site, I can find no...
Jari - this Anchor Bay we're talking about, so I wouldn't be surprised if Halloween: Ultimate Restored Edition (with limited lenticular cover) is released in a year or so!
I've got to say that this is really annoying - having just got the money together to get an HD player of some flavour (and with companies like Tartan and Optimum releasing on BD here in the UK it was likely to be Blu Ray) I know find that rather than the war almost being over, it now looks...
Sorry to post this here, as I know there's a reference to this show in this thread somewhere, but I really don't want to look through 79 pages to find it! The Lupin TV series discs from Geneon - which series are they? There are 79 episodes across 15 DVDs - is it the 2nd series? Do they have...
I thought it was odd too, but then I personally think FAFDM is the masterpiece of the trilogy. Either way, none of them have come out nor seem likely - they would have been instant buys into Blu Ray for me... Here's hoping Paramount get around to OUATITW some time soon (maybe to coincide with...
I believe For a Few Dollars More was one of the very early 'announced' titles for July or so, but like so many of those 'announcements' it seems not to have materialised
Drew, If you want to see the titles you've mentioned, get yourself a multiregion, PAL playing DVD player. Death Rides a Horse is out in Europe (from MGM no less), Big Gundown is out in Germany (as part of the Sollima boxset with Face to Face) and Japan. A couple of sites that might be of...
Well, MGM have released the Sabata films and now Hills Run Red so fingers crossed they'll get around to Navajo Joe and The Mercenary some day. The Japanese discs of those 2 are pretty good, although SPO are in the process of reissuing their Spaghetti Westerns series (see here) which includes...
Assuming the Leone titles hit Blu-Ray (and actually sell) I think we could Once Upon a Time in the West from Paramount before the end of the year, but it does rest on the more popular Leone titles coming out first. That is very wishful thinking on my part, and looking over those lists just makes...
If it's any consolation (probably not!) the market is going the other way in the UK. If you exclude online purchases, prices have dropped dramatically, but then retail stores rarely used to discount new releases - you'd be lucky if you found a £19.99 DVD for £18. Now with the supermarket chains...
Do any of these other DVD Profiler-like sites import from DVD Profiler? I've got 500+ discs and I'm not sure I have the energy to enter them all again....
wow - I didn't realise that the HD versions were missing those behind the scenes docs at the end of each episode! Oh well, maybe one day the BBC will get around to releasing stuff in HD here in the UK and then we'll get the whole series
I'd love to get that set, but the customs charge on it is going to be huge here in the UK! That and the saving of only ~$1 a disc makes me cautious.... If only they'd been in slimline packaging - I'm rapidly running out of shelf space here!
Are there any plans by Fox to ever create a boxset (or boxsets) of their film noir titles? Although you can get them for $9 a title now I'd still rather pay a bit less if I'm going to buy the lot.
Well, that's debatable - their product is tailored for the local market, so for example Studio Canal's French language titles will probably sell well enough within France and related territories to come pretty close to US studio product sales in the US. That said, in the UK at least, both...
Did Planet Earth get an American voiceover when shown in the US? Currently there are no plans for a UK release of it, but it's a no sale for me if Attenborough isn't on it!
Joel, it's missing a lot more than that. I saw an English print of OUATITW at the NFT in London which is the same as the (now deleted) Italian DVD which features a significantly longer opening scene which IMHO is miles better than the one in the cut presented on the Paramount DVD in almost all...
Once Upon a Time in the West has just been announced as undergoing a new restoration (see here) so I'd expect some sort of re-release in a years time or so. Until then, as others have said, the current edition is OK, as long as you don't mind the trimmed opening sequence etc etc ali
I often find that writing your message on a slip of paper, tying that slip of paper to a brick and them throwing it through your targets window is a great way if making sure your message is noticed. The more important the window, the more likely that action will result!
I'd move heaven and earth to get one of the formats if Once Upon a Time in the West came out in HD. Sadly still no sign of it - I guess Paramount have got a lot of dross to get through before that one comes out :frowning:
As a slight aside, the only version of Turandot available on CD at the moment is the old Vox version - for some reason all the rest have been deleted. If you want to understand what they're singing about then I'd recommend Chandos' Opera in English series - their RRP in the UK is £20 which is...
