The mod does a number of things see the www.SACDmods.com for a full list. Here's m list:
1. Much clearer, tighter bass - removes all muddyness and "boomyness".
2. Removes any residual artifacts of artificial "digital" sound - relism, dynamics, soundstage width and depth improved.
3. Greatly...
Doug -
The tray is not heavy duty but works well although it is a tad noisy. The mod improves the CD playback greatly - however I process my CDs through Perprtual Technologies P1A & moded P3A - which makes CDs sound close to SACDs.
Here's my systems...
Don't have time to add up my whole system but I look for bargains. The best bargain today is used Klipsh Heritage speakers. My HT uses 2 Klischorns and 6 LaScalas. Cost: $3000. New List: Around $15,000. Savings: $12,000.
I found that the 775 has a rather long burn-in period - it keeps getting better up to about 200 hours! The CD playback other than through the optical output is substandard. However I had my 775 modified by SACDmods.com and what a change, in both SACD and CD playback.
I recently had my 775 modified by SACDmods.com. Since 775s are now sellling all over for $199. you can have a very high quality SACD player for around $500. I think the modified version while not as heavy as the 555 sounds better.
IMHO you will have a hard time beating the Outlaw 1050 6.1 receiver at an unbelievable $499. It is very musical with great reviews. Does not have B speaker option. However, I bet you could add a switching box for A/B, A+ B and it will work fine. It has "the guts" to take an impedance drop from...
Thanks for the post. As you can see from my post under the Outlaw/Klipsch topic, I am so satisfied with my 1050 that I have been undeceided whether I will buy the 950/770 combo when my resertvation (which I procrastinated making) comes up. Your post has convinced me that I should definatly...
I am using Outlaw 1050 receivers with both a Klipschorn/LaScala Home Theater and a Klipsch THX LCR Home Theater set-ups. The receivers work great with both. It could only be better with a 950/770 0r 950/755 combo. I have a reservation in for the former but I am so amazed by and satisfied with...
I had two early Outlaw 1050s with the very minor bug involving DSP modes with the optical input. They sent me two updated units and I shipped the two I had back in the new one's boxes that included return shipping labels. No cost to me. Customer service is on a par with the great sound quality.
If its quality sound you want you can not beat the Outlaw 1050 at $499. Its one of 9 Stereophile Guide to Home Theater recomended A/V receivers. The other 8 range in price from $2400 to 4898. Available online from outlawaudio.com. You can save $50 if you'll accept an opened box - they are fully...
Or $2400- $3800 receiver from high end brands:
Stereophile Guide to Home Theater (March/April Issue) 2002 Recommended Components includes two Outlaw products. The $499. Outlaw 1050. The other recommended A/V Receivers were $2400- $3800 (5 to 7 X it’s price!). The Outlaw 750 ($1099.) Amp was...
All depends - Do you want to trade top sound quality for DPLII? If not the only choice is the Outlaw 1050. It was one of Stereophiles Recomended receivers for 2002. The other Recomended receivers were priced from $2400 to $3800 (5 to 7 times the 1050s price!!!!). As the review said: "A lot for...
One of the Sonys I had was an ES with 100 watts per channel (prologic). All receivers do not sound the same there is a lot more to it than specs. It is amazing that Stereophile GHT would name an 18 month old model but not if its the 1050, they just reviewed it last year. It has been a sleeper...
Most stores that sell Monster cables have a return policy. Use regular cables that come with the components or Radio Shack cables (also returnable) if you need extra. Buy Monster or other premium cables with a credit card and compare them with the basic cables. Have someone conduct a blind...
Checked the Home Theater review the 1050 reached 99.8 watts per channel at 4 ohms with .1% distortion and 126.1 watts at 4 ohms with 1.0%. Remember that 99 % of listening is going to be at below 10 watts - the true test is: what's the distortion at low output - since my Klipschorns and LaScalas...
Reggie-
Yea, I wish it had DSPII for my old videos in PLI or stereo but I don't view them that much any more and my favorites have been replaced by DVDs with 5.1 remastering because they allow for higher definition video ( I hate to pay twice for the same title but ...). I have the same...
Home Theater headlined it's review calling the 1050 "High End Performance at a Mass Market Price". Stereophile Guide to Home Theater awarded the 1050 their Editor's Choice Gold Award for 2002, Perfect Vision gave it an excellent review. The Home Theater review measured 99.something watts at 4...
Bobs right. Remember that the Outlaw outputs more in stereo mode and 6 x 65 or 390 total in surround mode - add a powered sub and that's a lot of sound - will shake your house - I use Klipsch THX LCRs (efficency 95 db) and the Outlaw provides more than enough to fill a 12x24 room. I have a...
Nice job - those two simple changes shouldn't cost much - bet someone could market a mod kit for low cost - actually I talked to the Outlaw folks at the CES in Vegas and they were discussing changing the logo and the green button - my 1050 is on a rack in a closet outside my HT and I don't even...
Yes to many image is more important than substance and they are free to make that choice. I'd rather spend the saved money on other hardware or more software.
No you are right - wattage is a very unreliable figure. Measurement standards are anything but uniform and are, therefore, subject to manipulation or "interpretation". The Outlaw plays louder (and far cleaner) than two 100 watt per channel Sony A/V receivers I had before I got my two 1050s. I...
$375 more for a better looking logo? Be sure to shine a spotlight on it so it will show up in the dark (ideally, however, your components should be outside the HT} Anyway its important to have great looking components when others can not hear quality.
