Tosh 51HX84 VS Panny 53X54 VS Hit 51F510

I looked at both BB and FS flyers using different post codes (Calgary and Ontario) and the prices on the TVs were the same. Perhaps the pricing was store specific. There's a local store I rather buy my TV from, and they'd probably match the prices if I could find them in print somewhere. I...

Tosh 51HX84 VS Panny 53X54 VS Hit 51F510

That's a huge price difference, I could understand $200, but $600! Make me wanna wait until it goes on sale here again. Still undecided on the TV choice. The Hitachi f510 is out. I did a pretty good comparison between it and the Panny yesterday (in a darkened room) and I def liked the panny...

Tosh 51HX84 VS Panny 53X54 VS Hit 51F510

I am with you Rolando, best price I can find on the 51HX84 is $2299. BB had the 47H84 for $1999 with an XBox though, but its too small.

Tosh 51HX84 VS Panny 53X54 VS Hit 51F510

Well, I am not a sports fan. So the appeal of hi-def sports is low. I also have a MythTV box that I built for a PVR which does not do hi def capture (unless I invest in a hi def card). So it SD for me for quite while... hence the need for good SD viewing capabilities. I have been looking for...

Tosh 51HX84 VS Panny 53X54 VS Hit 51F510

I checked the FS site, and the TVs are not listed at those prices, although the 57HX84 is only $2499 (only $100 more than the 51). My thoughts are pretty low right now. I went to my local non-big box store to make a decision on the Hitachi f510, Panny TW54 or Toshiba HX84 and left all pissed...

Tosh 51HX84 VS Panny 53X54 VS Hit 51F510

One other difference between the two is the HX has a "super wide band video amplifier" (which the sales guy said was 30Hz - whatever that means) and the H has a wide band amplifier (which sales guy said was 10Hz). This difference is what I am describing as noticeable, the contrast on the HX with...

Tosh 51HX84 VS Panny 53X54 VS Hit 51F510

Hey guys, I am in the same boat. I am dying to buy my first RPTV but am stifled by indecision. I WANT the Hitachi s715, but its not available in Canada, and I won't risk the import charges and potential warranty issues. I wasn't so impressed with the f510. I saw the Tosh HX84 and H84...

    Looking for a new TV

The Panasonic model you link to is the PS53wx54. This is apparently a rebadging of last year's model. There have been some improvements over this model for the new X54 series, so I wouldn;t get this one. The new model is link although FS only lists the 47". The 53" is going to be roughly...

    Looking for a new TV

Hey PeterK, I am looking into a similar thing for a similar budget. I have narrowed my choices down to Hitachi or Panasonic, which seem to be the best two models out there. You may want to check out the Panasonic PT-53X54 or the Hitachi 51F510, both of which will be around CAN$2300. Best...

Hitachi F510 vs. Hitachi S500 Ultravision

Okay, I found it. They just added it to the Hitachi Canada site this week. Its got "new super contrast II lens" (still 4 element) and many of the other of the features the S500 had. So basically, it looks like the only differences is 4 element lens vs 5 element lens. SO is that worth the...

Hitachi F510 vs. Hitachi S500 Ultravision

Hmm, I just noticed that the spec table I posted was for last years F500, so I don't have the specs of the F510, so I can't properly compare. Anyone know what the F510 added over the F500?

Hitachi F510 vs. Hitachi S500 Ultravision

The S500 has a 5 lens system, but I think the F510 still has a 4 lens system. How much of a difference will this make in PQ/contrast/etc?

    Knu Konceptz

I am only looing at a 2M cable, so would the Krystal stuff also be a good buy. Knu Konceptz claims its equivalent to Monster 3, and its only $24, which is a great price.

    Knu Konceptz

Thanks for the reply. I am not that excited by the attractiveness, just wondering whether this is a good buy or not. If their $24 Krystal Komponent cable will do just fine, I'll gladly save the money... Basically, I just want to know if an equivalent to either cable can be bought for less...

Anyone have experience with the Knu Konceptz componenet video cable? They are a web-based cable manufacturer that are highly regarded in the car audio market. Here's a link to their component cable: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...prodID=eKs-KV1 It certainly looks nice, and here's...

Hitachi F510 vs. Hitachi S500 Ultravision

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying the technical differences don't count for much and they are basically just cosmetic differences? I need to know if the S is worth the price differences. Thanks

Bump Do I want to buy Ultravsion S500 over reg F510? Do I want either of these over the Panny 53X54? Help

    input/output plugs

More importantly, the front inputs are not the ONLY inputs. The main panel is on the back, so you don't need to have any wires coming out of them if you don't want.

Hitachi F510 vs. Hitachi S500 Ultravision

Hi, I am looking at buying a RPTV and am deciding between the Hitachi and Panasonic offering in the 51-53" range. I can get the Hitachi H51F510 at a pretty decent price (cheaper than the Panny PT-53X54). For about $230 Canadian more (~US$160) I can get the Hitachi Ultravision 51S500. Is...

    Panasonic PT47WX54 and 53WX54

I saw the Best Buy promo too. I am looking for the 53" version, but that HD receiver deal is mighty tempting. My BB didn't have the 53" models in yet, so I am going to hold off and hope they put on a similar promo for it. I spent some time messing with the TV to "optimize" the settings...

    Panasonic PT47WX54 and 53WX54

As I said in my post, the WX54 seems to be a rebadging of last year's model. The base is narrower than the screen section. I don't know if any new features werer added, or if it is just an attempt to get rid of old stock. Both the X and TW have bases as wide as their screens.

    Panasonic PT47WX54 and 53WX54

Hi, I am looking at Panny RPTVs as well. Couple of points: there IS a PT53WX54. I saw it today at Best Buy (in Canada). It has a base that is skinnier than the width of the screen, which I think means it is a renumbered version of last year's model. Don't know if there are any differences...

    DIY Screen

You can use fake velvet (velveteen) from any fabric store, it works quite well in the DIY screen I have seen. Here is a link to the site of guy I met through this forum: http://home.golden.net/~mbrennem/HT/ He has decent instructions on how he made his screen including the blackout...

Best Panny DVD for under $400?

The RP91 is an awesome choice if you can get it for under $400, I thought it was closer to $600. The RP82 would be my second choice. I just checked out the specs on the XP50 and I don't understand, the site lists its retail as $130 MORE than the RP82, yet its features are poorer: no 4:4:4...

    finishing my box

Don't skip the t-nuts! Bring a t-nut with you to the hardware store and find a match. Ask for - gasp! - help if you have to. There are people here who have succesfully used wood screws, but it is more prone to disaster than the t-nuts. Especially if you want to take the driver off ever. Robin

    finishing my box

I put wood glue around the top part of the t-nut flange to seal it as best I could. Be careful to avoid squirting glue into the thread hole of the t-nut and wait for the glue to dry before screwing stuff into the t-nut. I think if you check Pat's page he has some photos of this process...
