I believe that you will find the Pioneer Elite is the best HDTV ready set money can buy. I also believe that the Diamond series Mitsubishi, properly calibrated, can get close. But there are other considerations. An analog picture (NTSC) is, quite simply, not going to be as good on any HDTV...
Hi:
A few points of interest. The picture you are seeing at your local store on these sets is not a true representation of the picture that you should be seeing. Most, if not all, manufacturers push their contrast, sharpness, brightness, and red, into the upper end. While this might make...

Man I know what you mean. I started out with a G&L Legacy special. Then I had to have a Strat. Then I had to replace the pickups (I wanted to, not had to) Then I had to have a Gibson ES-335, then it was an old retro Danelectro, then an acoustic. They all play different, I HAD to have...
Doug Dickeson, great music. I listened to a few of your tunes, and found them to be very well written and played.
My two cents. I just turned the big 50 a few weeks ago. Less than two years ago, I decided that it would be nice to make music. I bought a guitar, a chord chart, and put a...
A note from a novice:
I really enjoy reading the highly technical information in this site as well as AVS. It stretches me and that is always good. I can't say I follow all the technical aspects of this subject, but I have built a HT system primarily with what I read here, what my gut tells...

Perhaps you should spend time looking at Mitsubishi sets, that have been properly calibrated, adjusted, red push attenuator attached, and built into part of a HT instead of making decisions about how they look on the showroom floor. There are some good deals to be had on last year's...
Its interesting that many, many years ago, I figured the VCR was the best thing in the world, not only because it allowed me to watch movies, but it was going to allow me to record them too! Now I have a VHS video collection of about 300-400 movies and not one I recorded off the TV. I ended up...
Unless you have small children, you should remove the glare screen. The key here is the word glare!!
Instructions to do so are on the home theater spot web site. I followed them and removed my glare screen in a few minutes, Now there is no more glare

Go to hometheaterspot.com. You will find that they have a section for each TV brand with thousands of posts from owners with every tweak, upside, downside, everything you might need to help with your decision. I found it invaluable.
I ended up with the Mitsubishi 65907 and an IScan Pro...
Mike:
Since you have some knowledge of the Iscan line doubler, will the picture I can drive with a line doubler and a good model of 16x9 HDTV be comparable to the picture I would get with an HDTV with a good built in line doubler?
I have the Dish 500 system with two LNB feeds to two TVs. One I use for my HT setup. I installed the two switches and actually get signals from both satelites and have been happy for almost a year. If I want to get the HDTV broadcasts do I simply upgrade the receiver (assuming I have an HDTV...
I have heard great things about the line doubler that comes as part of the Pioneer Pro Elite. But at the cost, would I be better off to buy a Mitsubishi HDTV ready TV like the WS-55907 or WS-55807 and a seperate line doubler?
Any advice?
Sorry guys. Must say that I don't "get it". Are we now going to have a "Joe Six Pack" DVD thread, a "over 65" DVD thread, a "Affirmative Action" DVD thread, a "White people only" DVD thread, etc. etc. etc. Whatver happened to everybody just getting along, not prejudging, and simply discussing...
