Purple or Green bleeding on screen

Something is not shielded correctly. Move the speakers away from the TV and see if that works...if not, move the receiver and test.

    LCoS vs DLP

Check out the master thread over at AVS. You can get it for $2499 still! My 65" CRT HDTV recently got burn in so I am thinking of buying it.

MASTER BURN-IN THREAD: READ THIS FIRST! (And ask follow-ups here.)

After owning my 65" Mitsubishi HDTV CRT for 6 years, it finally happened. BURN IN! My wife stayed home one day and left some 4:3 material on all day long. It's weird but the area where the left and right black bars are would be looks fine. The center area has a more "purple" tint to it...

The ONE and ONLY *OFFICIAL* STAR WARS (Original Trilogy) DVD REVIEW THREAD!

Wrong. I noticed the blue tint and "changing" flesh tones in the theater with the '97 SEs. It's there on the LDs as well.

The ONE and ONLY *OFFICIAL* STAR WARS (Original Trilogy) DVD REVIEW THREAD!

It does look really good on the HD-A1 and you can upconver it. You just need to change your projector's display so it "zooms" on it. Problem solved. I plan on comparing it more to the Oppo to see which I prefer though.

The ONE and ONLY *OFFICIAL* STAR WARS (Original Trilogy) DVD REVIEW THREAD!

The blue tint appered with the 1997 SEs so it was not added to match the PT.

The ONE and ONLY *OFFICIAL* STAR WARS (Original Trilogy) DVD REVIEW THREAD!

To show the blue tint of the SEs, notice the pics below and that Vader is finally back to his classic self, "gunmetal" color in the original versions and not blue! The walls are actually white and not blue. You actually see more detail as well.

The ONE and ONLY *OFFICIAL* STAR WARS (Original Trilogy) DVD REVIEW THREAD!

Despite not being anamorphic, these look REALLY good. I watched parts of all of them last night. My video set up is a 119" screen, IF 7200 FP, Oppo, HD-A1 and Zektor DVI switch. Both look VERY good and better than any bootleg out there, including Mothers and other higher resolution...

Star Wars discussion from The Bits...

Thanks Tim, That comparison easily shows how the SE's color is just wrong (that damn blue tint!). The original looks so much better.

Donner Superman 2 SE (merged thread)

Nice trailer! I got chills watching it. I really hope the HD versions are released the same day on HD DVD. Those are must haves. I am really looking forward to Donner's II (even though I love Lester's version).

Star Wars discussion from The Bits...

If you own the Citizen or Mother release, they should be about the same quality as the new original DVDs. If you have an older set like Gonzo or TR47, the new official ones will look a lot better. I will post my thoughts when I view the new discs. From what I have seen so far, they...

Star Wars discussion from The Bits...

Guys, I own the Definitive collection, the faces set, and the older widescreen versions of the trilogy all on LD. (not to mention PLENTY of other versions) I will say again that the PAL LD - DVD set transfers are easily better quality than the NTSC LDs. (referring to Mother and Citizen)...

Star Wars discussion from The Bits...

FYI, the PAL LDs do indeed have more resolution. There are sets of the PAL LD to DVD transfer and there is easily more detail from the PAL set. It looks really good and they even made it anamorphic. They are really good and better than the standard LDs. PM me if you want more...

Star Wars discussion from The Bits...

I would love to ask them why there are anamorphic segements from all three movies (ORIGINAL versions) in a couple of Star Wars specials that have aired and are even included on the SE DVDs!!! Their response is total BS. It would be very easy to create an anamorphic DVD from a THX transfer...

Star Wars discussion from The Bits...

I guarantee that the laserdisc "master" tapes are still there. It would be VERY easy to create a 720x480 anamorphic transfer from those digital tapes. I would be happy with that. I actually prefer the laserdiscs picture to the SE DVDs because of what the Lowry process did to the...

    Great trailers and Lousy Trailers

Here is the info on that Lost World teaser: 1996 - DTS trailer film for Jurassic Park: The Lost World released: "The teaser trailer, which debuted on December 13 at forty locations in the United States and two in Toronto, Canada, is driven by a modified DTS that activated six stategically...

    Great trailers and Lousy Trailers

Two Towers with Requiem for a Dream music was a GREAT trailer. Very moving. All Star Wars trailers (prequels) were MUCH better than the movies. :) Anyone remember The Lost World teaser? Some theaters actually had some strobe lights installed for it. It was VERY cool.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire..Reviews

I guess I am one of the few who felt this movie was just ok. The flow of the movie just did not work for me and the ending was pretty weak. The teachers were barely even used in this film and seemed "forced" to make an appearance. Worst of the series for me. I watched part 2 again...

*** Official FANTASTIC FOUR Discussion Thread

I saw it yesterday and LOVED it! I don't know why everyone has so many issues with it. It was a fun movie. IMO, it was much better than Ep3 but Batman Begins is still the best of the summer. F4 was a lot of fun and the characters had a LOT of chemistry together. The casting was...

    Batman Begins (2005)

Of course I saw Titanic! 3 times. :) Yes, it was also a *big* movie but not on the same level as Star Wars or Batman. People loved the movie but did not *live* the movie if you know what I mean. The LOTR trlogy is a classic. Some of the best movies in a LONG time. I love them but again...

    Batman Begins (2005)

I actually saw it again and thank God the theater had the sound right this time. I LOVED IT! It's just as good as Batman and Returns. Incredible movie. However, I still miss the hype people used to have for movies. I remember in 1989 when almost EVERYONE had a Batman shirt...

    Batman Begins (2005)

I thought it was ok...I still prefer Burton and Keaton's Batman by far. What it really needed was a good score/theme. Elfman's theme music was incredible for Batman and Returns. This film lacked that and it would have made it a far better movie IMO. It was good but not great IMO.

Robert Anthony, I know others brought it up. I am just saying I too brought it up in the last 10 pages. GrantH said he did not read the last 10 pages, which is why I pointed it out. Read my post, it starts by saying GrantH. Chill out.

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

Regarding ANH, One of my other issues with the new DVD is the ADR problem. For those who do not know what ADR is: ADR stand for "Automated" or "Automatic" Dialog Replacement. Dialog that cannot be salvaged from production tracks must be re-recorded in a process called looping or ADR...
