I prefer the Rotel's sound with my Martin Logans. Many people have mated this receiver with Paradigm with great results. Suggest you check out Club Rotel's web site for such opinions. BTW, IMO the NAD is very ugly and does not match much of any other equipment due to their odd color choice. Your...
The 1095 is a lovely amp but some folks have had mains noise problems with them which do not seem to afflict the 1075. Therefore, I would be hesitant to buy this amp online unless I was postive there was no electrical incompatibility.
You already know the answer to your question assuming you have read the posts in this thread, and besides its irrelevent what we would chose since YOU will be listening to the pre/pro, not us. Suggest you make a decision and go with it.:)
I would get the Ref 31 if you plan to limit yourself to used since it sounds great and the bass notch filter is a big plus in many systems. However, it would not cost that much more to move up to the Rotel 1068 which is a substantial step up from both of your other choices in terms of sound and...
Zach, I suggest you reconsider your budget for the receiver. $750 is not much to spend if you want really good sound. I do not understand your statement that the Rotel would be "too much" for your room. I do not think that you can ever have too much power for any system. Most bad sound and...
The Rotel is great and does not hiss. The Marantz is ok but has had some problems according to threads here and AVS. Only you can decide if any purchase is worth additional money. In regard to a sub, suggest you go to AV123 and look at a Rocket sub, UFW-10. Great sub for both music and movies...
$200-300? Your choices are limited and I doubt any receivers in this price range will be a noticable improvement over what you have. Suggest you stay where you are and save up six or seven hundred dollars to get a real upgrade.
If you are going to use the room eq, get the 3805. It also has Denon link for direct input of DVD-A/SACD from the the 5900 dvd player. I would only buy the 3803 if there was no way to stretch finacially to the 3805. YMMV.;)
Well, your friend can't do a parametric eq with the Sony since it does not have this feature. Therefore, you did not hear the main advantage of the Denon over the Sony
If he got a great deal he should buy it. The unit has had good reviews. If he finds he does not like it, he can easily sell it on Audiogon and get a SVS or something else.
You don't need to do blind tests. You are not developing life-saving medicines:) . However, without a sound level meter you will be unable to properly calibrate your system and compensate for differing efficeincies of the subs under evaluation. The louder sub will sound different, but absent...
Jeeez, go ahead and do it. Your opinion is as valid as the vast majority of "experts" who post on this forum. I for one would like to hear your opinion. My advice though is when you post results be specific regarding faults, describe them in detail, and list the specific album and song or part...
I agree intellectually with what the main post said and agree that everyone should stop these non-info rave reviews. OTOH, many of us are in a situation in which NO ONE we personally know gives a damn about this hobby. My wife could care less other than the hemmorraging of money out of our...
This is kind of related but I have not seen it directly addressed. This sub weighs well over 100 lbs. I am not a bodybuilder and I do not have access to anyone my size to help me move it to my basement (7 steps from main level). Anyone else have this experience? How do you move this thing in its...
I don't care for this system but what does that matter? I assume since you work at BB you are familiar with the sound of the speakers. The price is obviously good so if you like the sound go for it.;)
Finally, keep in mind that the amp sections of the Denon and Pioneer are inferior to the 507 (current limiting design), so I would get the 507 rather than either named receiver (keep in mind each of the named receivers lists in excess of $1300 more than the B&K). The Ref 50 is a no-brainer...
Why necessarily go with separate boxes? Rotel makes a very nice receiver/dvd player that was well reviewed in the Perfect Vision. While I am normally adverse to these all-in-one units, I have great respect for Rotel and suspect this will be winner. :)
I do not see a relationship between treble brightness and placement. The original poster said the setup was similar to his home placement which is not bright to him. I think he is hearing cheap electronics and bad program material combined into one bad listening experience. :)
