Anyone find Superman II RD cut or Superman TM in HD-DVD?

Went to best buy, circuit city and wal-mart. Neither place had any on order! Anyone find this at retail?

    Welcome Jack O'Halloran!

Hello Mr. O'Halloran. I was wondering how was the scheduling for shooting Superman 1 and 2, as they were originally shot back to back right? Were you brought in early on and some time passed and brought back in? Also, are you a home theater enthusiast as well? What type of set up do you...

It's TRUE: HD DVD supports 1080i via Component Video, not just HDMI

This is what I'm afraid of. "Said the spider to the fly" kind of thing. I guess we'll see what BluRay does for the 10 mil early HD converts, if anything. Early on, I told my wife unfortunately our HDTV is not compatible with the new formats and I explained why and the copy protection issues...

It's TRUE: HD DVD supports 1080i via Component Video, not just HDMI

This is great news, I may actually be able to spend some money. I thought the HD-DVD and Blu Ray camps had left us early HDTV'ers out in the cold. Or is this a marketing ploy to get us non-HDMI guys to buy and then they'll flag the software and then we're out of the game again?

It's official: BOTH Blu-ray and HD-DVD downrez component

You know the winner of the Blu-Ray / HD-DVD battle just lost an easy win. The winner of this battle just had to announce full 1080i component compatibility and most early adopter would have made their choice. I know I was on the fence about which format would support component 1080i and now it...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

After another viewing I caught something I hadn't heard before. In the scene just before Anakin heads to Palpatine's office to confront Mace and Co., Anakin is waiting in the council room and Padme is looking toward the jedi temple. I can hear Palpatine's voice telling Anakin "Only I have the...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Thanks Richard, my bad....I thought Gary had done the Incredibles. Gary's DTS mix on Terminator 2 is awesome. Did he do Terminator 3? I have a friend who has very high-end equipment with a sweet B&W speaker set up. He too is asking where is the bass? He did comment that the ROTS mix sounds...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Regarding the bass issue, this should clear it up a bit (as stated previously)..... Gary Rydstrom did not do the sound mix. End of story. P.S. This is why the Incredibles sounds a whole lot better in the bass dept. ie....Rydstrom.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

That explains everything.... Gary Rydstrom did not do the ROTS mix. I get it now, end of arguement. (head down, walking away from PC) Hey, but I like that we have come so far in HT that we now notice subtleties and differences in soundtracks. Hell, we can even tell who was manning the...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Hey Richard, check this out. During the youngling scene where Anakin shows up to slice and dice, the camera cuts to Anakin's rear and a closeup of his lightsaber. Anakin flicks it on and wow, some LFE indicative of AOTC lightsaber action. This scene is important to the film and the fact that...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Yoda's and Dooku's sabers were the same as in AOTC. How come they don't have the bass? I guess their mama's told 'em to turn it down also. All in all, it is a different movie, different sound mix. However, it is just that the lightsabers, along with that little bit of LFE in AOTC, were...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

This is what I was talking about. The space battle has great LFE and I did listen to it at about 3 dbs louder than AOTC. But I was disappointed by the lack of the LFE when the lightsabers were swung, like in AOTC. My subwoofer just goes crazy and the Yoda/Dooku fight is reference audio...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Anyone notice the LFE is missing from the lightsaber fights? I got used to the bangin' LFE in AOTC. I was really looking forward to the LFE, but with so many lightsaber fights, it was probably too expensive. I compare the sound of the lightsabers to that of Phantom Menace. I guess for lightsaber...

    Spider-Man 2 DVD Reviews - when?

:emoji_thumbsup: Ok, here we go. Found the Superbit Spiderman 2 dvd. Nice cover, not your usual silver/metallic superbit. This one is darker and resembles the "sacrifice" movie poster and spidey's costume webbing reflects the "silver/metallic" of superbit. Nice touch. I can honestly say the...

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

Man! These look great and with no edge enhancement either. Phantom Menace is definitely now the worst looking dvd of all five movies. I saw the confirmed changes discussed in detail, but noticed even more changes. ANH: The Darth Vader/Obi-Wan duel has been tweaked and "sped" up a...

Fleetwood Mac / Live in Boston Specs?

Hey guys, is Fleetwood Mac Live in Boston anamorphic widescreen? How about DTS? I heard it was shot with high definition cameras, so I hope the anamorphic is a "go." I don't want Fleetwood Mac to make the Rush in Rio mistake. :D Thanks, David

Is anyone looking forward to Matrix Revolutions DVD?

I was just wondering if anyone was anticipating this release. It just seems really quiet about this title. I know I use "reloaded" as demo material, and I want to try the sentinal invasion on "revolutions."

    Laserdisc advice

Hey, don't forget the laserdisc jackets make excellent home theater decor. I have my bond laserdisc jackets and star wars thx discs in lp frames from hobby lobby on the walls of my HT and they look great. I get compliments on them all the time. I've mixed them in with some full size movie...

Quirks that you have when buying DVDs

I can't wait to show my wife your post and say "See honey, I'm not the only one!" :D But seriously, I also choose a properly aligned cover. I check for those wrinkles in the plastic cover. Most of all, I like a properly centered and aligned spine, so I grab a handful and look at the...

Star Trek V is in EX!!!!

Wow! I was astonished when the Star Trek V DVD tripped the EX flag on my receiver. Sure enough, the surround mix has been tweaked and the outcome is pretty good. Just thought I'd add this info to the forum, maybe it helps on making a decision to pick this one up or double-dip. Ironic that...

    MGM ruined my Bond collection!

I just saw the actual cover art of the Die Another Day DVD. Once you slide it out of it's cardboard case, like Beauty and the Beast SE, THE SPINE DOES NOT MATCH UP TO THE OTHER BOND DVD'S! It looks horrible! I remember when the World is Not Enough came out an it fit in perfectly in the box sets...

Armageddon Criterion Collection DVD (MERGED THREAD)

:frowning: I just wish I could watch Armageddon in full 16X9 glory on my widescreen tv. I guess I have to settle for watching it on my little 27 inch 4x3 television set. What a shame...this one deserves better. When you think about it...it just doesn't make sense when Anaconda is in full...

Armageddon Criterion Collection DVD (MERGED THREAD)

This one could sure be demo-quality material if Buena Vista would pony up for an anamorphic transfer. Why didn't Criterion do the anamorphic transfer like "the Rock?" And while they're at it, include the DTS soundtrack, it sounds awesome on DTS laserdisc. Anyone know?

Austin Powers: Goldmember - Technical Issues (merged thread)

:b I had the same lockout on my Pioneer DV-37. This is the first DVD i've had that gives me trouble like this. So, do we return them or what? C'mon New Line...do we return them to retailers or call an 800 number. Thank God I didn't invite co-workers to see it...that would have been embarassing...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: "Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan (Highly Recommended) (with screenshots)

What I found interesting on this new DVD was some of the alternate "takes" of some scenes. Especially noticeable is the scene where Carol Marcus tells her staff to cool it and one of her scientist tells her "what about Reliant, she's on her way?" and there is a few more seconds leading you to...

    DD-EX & DTS-ES encoded movies listing

what dd-ex titles have the auto flag so it will trip the reciever into dd-ex mode automatically? Phantom Menace wont do it, you have to set it manually. Jim, I have found the only one so far to be Jurassic Park 3. It trips the flag and activates DD-EX on its own. Yes, I wondered about the...
