Warner Archive Announces “Superman: The Movie” Extended Cut

Sorry if this is off topic. I will definitely be picking up this Superman Blu-ray set as the movie’s release marked my return to high-tech English speaking civilization. I was in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in an agricultural area of southern Italy for two and a half years without TV or a VHS...

Thanks for that info Matt. It's good to know that all Twilight Time Blu-rays are region free. I wasn't aware of that. Your review of The Mad Magician was spot-on as well. Greatly appreciated!

James Bond individual Blu-rays Target, Best Buy, and Wal-mart exclusives?

It's release day and the Best Buy in OKC had about 6 each of the 3 exclusives plus about a dozen other Bond Blu-ray discs. All of them were priced at $9.99 and all of them had the Skyfall tickets, even the non-exclusive discs had the tickets.

Blu-ray Review The Santa Clause: The Complete 3-Movie Collection Blu-ray Review

I also like the second one but not nearly as much as the first. The third one irritated me so much I haven't seen it since its original release. I'll watch the 3rd one again in December with expectations of disaster just to see if it's really as bad as I thought.

James Bond individual Blu-rays Target, Best Buy, and Wal-mart exclusives?

Thanks for the heads up Louis. I was wondering what their alternate release date was going to be. It will be interesting (or disappointing) to see how many copies they have.

    Blu-ray Review Pete's Dragon: 35th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Review

I was in the U.S. Air Force on an AWACS crew in 1979 when the American Embassy in Iran was taken over and the diplomats held hostage. Our crew was deployed to a desert location where a few weeks into the crisis they began showing and re-showing the few movies that we had in a makeshift theater...

James Bond individual Blu-rays Target, Best Buy, and Wal-mart exclusives?

Picked up all 3 of the Target exclusives and they only had 1 of each! They now have zero left. Picked up all 3 of the Wal-Mart exclusives at a Super Walmart, leaving only 1 copy of Goldeneye and several copies of the other 2. Thanks to members on this forum I didn't make the 5 mile drive to...

Blu-ray Review Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) Blu-ray Review

As 10-year olds in 1959 my friend and I took a bus ride with transfers in a scary part of Ft. Worth, Texas to get to the theater to see this movie. As kids, we found it fascinating. I still appreciate it today, especially after a dozen one-month trips to Iceland while in the Air Force.

    NASA Finds "New Earth"

We only recently developed the ability to detect Earth-sized planets orbiting nearby stars only hundreds of light years away. The Kepler planet hunting telescope is unable to detect planets millions or billions of light years away. It is fun to speculate on the possibility that galaxies we...

MY FAIR LADY. Has Paramount any plans to release this?

It would be great if Modern Marvels did a film preservation and restoration episode for the History Channel. That would get a grass roots movement started from the fans of UFO Hunters, MonsterQuest, Ice Road Truckers and Ax Men.

The future of BD and physical media?

I believe that there are enough physical media collectors around to make Blu-ray and its successors a viable market for decades to come. I don't see our desire to improve realism and beauty stopping with Blu-ray. As 4K projectors become more commonplace in our local theaters people will want...

How many of you have actually used Digital Copy?

I don’t use digital copies for the same reasons that I watch only crappy movies on long flights where a choice of movies is offered. When a good movie is offered on a flight I won’t watch it. After watching a good movie I may not want to see it again for years. I don’t want to reset the...

Things I've noticed about HTF since returning.

It's great to see you back Jack. You were missed by those like me who learned a great deal from the experts on this forum even if we didn't have much to contribute. I agree that the HTF as well as the sophistication of its members have significantly changed. I no longer turn on my computer...

Is Lossless Audio Causing the Unexpected in your Home?

This is the first time that our glass break sensor has been activated by a movie but that's probably because we normally don't have the alarm system set to Monitor Mode while watching a movie. I can't complain about the alarm system though because I get faked out by strange sounds coming...

Is Lossless Audio Causing the Unexpected in your Home?

While watching "The Brave One" on Blu-ray which has Dolby TrueHD lossless audio there is a scene where Jodie Foster's character is in a convenience store during an armed robbery. She gets into a shoot-out with the robber and bullets are flying into glass bottles. During the noisy scene with...

Memories of revival theaters compared with blu-rays

Perhaps we could raise the interest level in Classic Movie Night by starting the evening off with a classic cartoon like Road Runner and previews of classic movies.

Memories of revival theaters compared with blu-rays

You're welcome Ben and thanks for the kind words and the Life on Mars tip. I've never seen the series but I'll check it out. Should I get the U.S. or the U.K. version? About revival theaters: I believe that this thread touches the hearts of anyone who is fortunate enough to have...

Memories of revival theaters compared with blu-rays

Thanks Ben for starting such a great thread. In ~1973 I attended a rather intense Air Force school at a Navy base just north of San Francisco. For stress relief, on the weekends some of us would head for China Town in the day and a row of small revival theaters at night. I don’t recall the name...

The Two Worlds Of Jennie Logan (1979) TV-movie starring Lindsay Wagner coming from MGM DVD-On-Demand

Will do. My expectations are not high for this TV movie on DVD-R but hopefully it will be better than our VHS Tape copy. I hope that someone with a larger budget does a remake of this movie.

The Two Worlds Of Jennie Logan (1979) TV-movie starring Lindsay Wagner coming from MGM DVD-On-Demand

I just pre-ordered this DVD-R from Amazon. Although it is not yet available, their statement below makes me wonder if it will be made to order now or later. I assume later: DVD-R Note: This product is manufactured on demand when ordered from Amazon.com.

WHV Announcement: Clash of the Titans -and- The Neverending Story (Blu-ray)

Thanks Brandon. From your description it should barely fit into my CanAm storage cabinet without laying it down because DVD slipcases barely fit as well. With the Can-Am cabinets the DVD/Blu-ray cases are stored on their right edge instead of their bottom edge...
