I would always match the screen to the native aspect of the PJ.
We have a 16:9 system. We watched satellite 4:3 on this system for over a year. Now that masking is in place it's better. The masking really improved the apparent contrast. The images at my link show with and without masking...
Matt, Go to JoAnn fabric and ask for black-out shade / lining material. It is a vinyl material, white on one side and grey on the other. You could tack a piece over each door's window and from the outside it would look white like a lined curtain. But your room will be DARK.
Dear Studio Exec,
I am the early adopter. I bought Laser Disks. I bought my first DVD player as soon as they were available. I bought a Sony 10HT widescreen front projection system in 2000 capable of delivering anamorphic images. I am setup for satellite HDTV. I have a dolby digital...
Owning both a Pioneer CLD-59 and a Sony 7000 DVD player I must ask at this point why start into LDs. The availability of LD's has never been what DVD has already become. The picture quality of DVD is clearly better. Fewer and fewer PreAmps or Receivers are equipped with the RF input for Dolby...
Well Jeff since may still be seeking an answer. I would look at using a fiberglass wand as the alarm installers use or a metal snake like an electrician. You could buy a long painters extension pole. Electricians sometimes even use a crossbow may for sending out a pull spring.
Robert,
I did those calculations again last night and an extra 50' of decent cable causes a .0000008sec delay in the signal.(Less than 1 microsecond) Actually moving a speaker 1" had a 100x more impact than 50' of decent wire.
I say decent wire like a #14 cable not Cat 5 where you can tell...
I did carpet my walls, all four. My intent during construction was to later velcro a mix of fabric covered acoustic panels absorbtive or diffusive.
I have been happy with and enjoying our theater. My wife and I think the theater sounds fine so it is hard to justify extra effort & expense...
A square room is the worst choice for acoustics.
Stay away from the even multiples.
8H x 16W x 24L as an example would also be bad. Try to get non-divisible dimensions or work in prime numbers. Not a magic formula more a guide to stay out of trouble.
8H or 9H x 15W x 19L would be fine...
I've read a lot of posts that subs are more powerful in a sealed room. But my experience is that a more open environement increases the impression of bass output. Even opening the theater doors has the effect.
Keep in mind as we move forward eventually the widescreen format will be the standard for TV manufacture.
I prefer and search for widescreen format. P&S only films usually get put down and not purchased. My real preference being the "Enhanced for Widescreen 16:9 format".
I like my 120" 16:9...
I also recommend two runs of Cat5e at a minimum. I would add additional lines into any office area.
I have run about 1800' of Cat5e with 22 ports in the house, all for data connections, printer sharing and internet access.
You can see a pic of our network setup in the rear of my theater gear...
Robert,
I've had my 10HT for almost 2 years. I bought mine about 2-3 months after they were released.
I am just inherently cheap and if I think I can save a chunk I will try. I like my mount as it is more flexible/adjustable than the Sony.

All the gear gets powered down when not in use. Except the sub. (Because it is not remote controlled and if I turned it off others would not think to turn it on.)
My projector has about a 2 minute warm up but other than that I don't see any need to warm up the gear. THe PJ is usually up to...
Try the local gun shop. Maybe a nice hip or better yet shoulder holster for that remote. Don't forget a bandolier for those batteries.
Sorry couldn't resist.
Hope you like this and check out the pics from my theater.
Any questions let me know.

CEILING PROJECTOR MOUNT
I built my mount for the Sony 10HT by placing a 14-1/2 x 14-1/2" 1x4 box with a foam taped top edge...
"Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm running 200watts to the highs of the right channel and 200watts to the lows of the right channel and no difference between that and the left."
One other point is that you may have been connected to a 200Watt capacity amp but it is VERY doubtful you ever drove...
Our ceiling is Home Depot Behr Bedrock grey (FLAT)
The photos almost look bluish but it's all grey. Grey I/O carpet on the side and rear walls and black I/O on the front wall.

Most receivers have a test tone that with use of a Radio Shack sound meter will allow you to set the speakers to a even level.
You take your measurement at ear level with the meter pointed at the wall ceiling junction of the front wall.
As mentioned very often the surrounds are active but...
The fan rated at 12volts and 100mA means the fan needs 12v and draws up to 100mA. The power adapter rated at 300mA means it is has the capacity of up to 300mA. Assuming the adapter is 12v out which you did not actually say. You are all set.

I built my own Marquee and included two backlit poster boxes I built.
POSTER FRAMES
I also used the Bass Loc frames. I bought 7 in the gold finish, they screw to the wall. They are not stud space mutilples so you must use drywall anchors.
I took two of the frames and built my own backlit...
I built my own Marquee with two built in poster light boxes that I also built. Unfortunately since Photopoint went belly up my pics are off line.
I used 4-18" flourescent tubes in home made boxes lined in sheet metal and faced with Bassloc frames. I replaced the wood backing in the frames...

I think one of the keys I notice on another forum which I am a more frequent contributor is the question asked. Specific question will get specific answers. But if you are too vague you get little response.
Low voltage wiring? What application? Low voltage control? lighting...
Well hello I have been out of the forum for quite some time.
I agree that the cable lengths should be similiar. But more as reflected in resistance than do to any phasing caused by time differences.
In general I would try to keep wire lengths and gauges to the fronts the same, and lengths...
