Incidentally, those two "sharp" shots were both from a deleted scene that was added to the director's cut. The quality of the deleted scenes in the earlier DVD release on the director's cut was extremely poor - almost as if it had been taken off a VHS tape. The difference between the original...
Hello, I apologize if this was mentioned earlier in the thread - I've not had a chance to read through it all. Is there an insert in the pocket on the inside left panel of the case? Mine was empty... Thanks, Ryan
I should also note that the stretching was noticable at a screening I attended this summer at the New Beverly cinema and can also be seen in the trailer, which you can download off of Apple's trailer site or view on the Koy/Pow discs. Goddfrey spoke after the LA premiere and addressed the...
I was at the Los Angeles premiere (10/18/02) at the Egyptian as well, and the stretching is normal and part of the film as it was presented in the theater. Ryan
Gregory: Unfortunately, I don't own the Box Set edition, so I can only go by the specs you linked to. Based on that, there are no differences between the two editions aside from packaging and the addition of the DTS track.
Dave: My setup is rather lackluster, so I can't notice any difference...
Specifically, the bonus track will be found to the three "collector's" CDs which will feature covers that depict specific characters (the normal disc features the poster art). I don't know if these discs are exclusive to Wal Mart; I was under the impression that that was a rumor.

I ordered the disc from Amazon on March 12. When I asked my local Best Buy a few weeks ago when they'd have it in, they also mentioned April 9.
The film is *not* anamorphic widescreen. There are a number of deleted scenes that have been edited back in, including the extended sequence with...
I just arrived home, and much to my surprise, Nixon SE was in the mailbox. It comes in a double case (what's the correct terminology) much like Fox's 5-star DVDs but in black. The discs have no artwork on them. I'll post more details later.
What a coincidence! From DVDFile:

Street date alert - 2:36pm
[snip] On 3/19, Buena Vista will release the director's cut of Stone's acclaimed biopic, with the same transfer and features as the edition previously available only in the box set. (The movie only edition of Nixon will...
You may legally be allowed to make one copy of copyrighted works you own for backup purposes, but not when it involves circumventing "a technological measure that effectively controls access to a work protected under [the Digital Milennium Copyright Act]." I echo Bergan's suggestion that the...
There's a bit of backstory in the manual that puts everything into proper context, but I think I'm the only person on earth who reads manuals :). In any case, it's nothing that the intro video couldn't have briefed over with a bit of narration, so this was a missed opportunity.

You can certainly hook up a subwoofer to your receiver with either part of a standard "red-white" cable . Naturally, the use of such cable will most likely be a bottleneck in your system. You may also want to pick up this adapter ==> http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=42%2D2435

Chalk this up as another vote for ignoring your roommates and selling the receiver to help fund the new one. If I recall correctly, the Amazon price error was for the JVC 1028VBK, so you'll definately be able to get more than $50 for it

Why is it that many digital components only have optical outputs, particularly when cables for coax have the potential of being so inexpensive (and adding LEDs and such to the actual component seems to be more costly than using coax)?
