CRT FP is the way to go (digital for those who prefer point and shoot) set up is not that difficult. for an apartment digital might be your best bet small size compared to a crtfp.
good luck

Yes, the new technology is definitely digital blah, blah, blah... BUT it's not the best image. digital PJ for $5K or CRT PJ for $1k (entry level 7")

I would second that,
If you have good control of your lighting a FPCRT set up is the way to, go better image quality.
I was able to get/do an entry level 7" CRT, HTPC,a DIY screen, Kenwood 5.1 system for less than $2,500. For everyday viewing I use a vvega 32" w/ a Tosh 3109 DVD.
The set-up...

johank,
your ECP is very easy to set up, and you can go as wide as 80" with a good image. The ECP likes 1.5 x width of screen for placement (to the green tube).
Go the HTPC route, you will have more options for resolutions. you will need powerstrip 3.0 (shareware)for custom resolutions. I put...
Thats right a 46" direct view from NEC (circa 1986)

Would anybody know how much RCA's/Proscan 38" 16x9 weighs.
how much more do you think a 40-42" would weigh.
I read somewhere that RCA's/Proscan's 38" would be a "true" flat screen (new model) in 2002? interesting.

Take a look at the following post: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/uub/...ML/008246.html
I paid less than $1k for my CRT/FP with no burn-in in any of the three guns (patience), less than $900.0 for my HTPC (diy), and approx. $50.0 for my screen (diy 1.4 gain painted fabric)I also have controll...
With all due respect to those using LCD or DLP
For the best picure/image quality nothing currently is better than a CRT front projector. A CRTfp does require that you have complete light control of your room, if you do not then you should consider a DLP projector.
I have seen the other two...
For the best picure/image nothing currently is better than a CRT front projector. You can get a good 8" CRT for less than 5k. 8" FP to see would be Marquee 8500LC, Barco 808, 1208, NEC 9PG, and sony G70.
they all produce excellent 7' to 9' wide images my preference would be the Marquee 8500LC...
My 2cents,
I just purchased my first FP which I am using w/an HTPC. I was also debating on a large rptv in the 55” range but after spending some time at the avsforum I did some searching for an FP, and found a ECP4100 (CRT) for approx. 700.00 (lucky) 700.00+ for the HTPC.
The FP is in very...
Brian
do a search on wegas, your questions have been answered
in prior replies.
you might consider ordering the service manual for your set from Sony, the cost is less than 10.00.
to answer your second question: if you reduce the SBRT setting down 4 notches it should reduce the brightness...
You will only have problems if you underate the UPS.
the UPS will or could have an overcurrent fault sending
the UPS to offline, no backup. TV's have a large in rush
of current, that is the loud thump you hear when you turn
them on.
The UPS (online type) should be rated at 100% load
and...
