I just watched the Crossroads Guitar Festival on PBS in glorious HD. Looked awesome! So I looked up the DVD on DVD Empire and it's listed as 1:33-1. Can anyone confirm this?? If so a tremendous waste of a great looking widescreen concert shot in HD.

OK, I just did the auto-calibrate and popped in "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" SACD and I'll tell you this: It kicks the crap out of the my former Denon, the AVR-2803 (which I really loved) Wow! Can't wait to wind up X-Men 2 or something similar when I have time. Double wow!!

Those dvd's that used to make my jaw drop suddenly don't seem so spectacular when I see a very average movie like "Empire Records" in HD look worlds better than the finest...

I'll catch hell for this but prior to being buried by pop-rock ballad hell, Night Ranger's Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson replaced Glenn & KK as my favorite guitar team. KK is the weakest link of the four. Priest always had huge sonics/production, hopefully that will translate to the DVD.

I know there's an HD master of it, because it airs on HBO Hi-def from time to time and it blows the DVD away!

The existing "Aloha" from "lightyear" has an amazing 5.1 mix. Very nicely done. Better sonics than any cd version I've ever had of this show.

What's the rule of thumb? I have a Toshiba 56H80, and just got HD sat & OTA. I had my set calibrated by ISF guys two years ago so grey-scale color temp etc accurate for DVD. Should these also be correct for 1080i?? Also, my convergence goes batty when switching to 1080i. Will this continue...

Not 5.1, but a glorious PCM 1506 stereo track. Steve Perry insisted they use the re-mastered audio from the CD catalog to lay over the top of the videos. Then they found quality tapes for the live footage. I read an interview with Steve. Played the DVD today. Sounds great. Pro Logic 2 and or...

I have the LD of Pumping Iron, and the DVD is a nice improvement. Not as many video 'hits', and the color is quite a bit more vibrant.

Theatrically I remember the nip shot being when she first arrives and stands up out of the disco ball. I was actually surprised that it was shown. The DVD matte covers this.

Don't forget "Hannibal". One of the finest DVD sets ever produced. Extras aside, this disc has always seemed under-appreciated as far as audio/video. Spectacular set.

In the Die Hard box-set, only Die Hard 1 was labled as a "5 Star".

I think if I could have ANY movie remastered with OAR and a DTS or at least a quality DD 5.1 track it would be 'The Commitments'. An S.E. better be in the works. If a studio feels there's enough of a fan base to pull the title for a re-release with a price-drop, than that title should also...
