Some of the first few from major studios that come to mind: "In the Line of Fire" "Desperado" "Sudden Impact" "Hard Target" "Eraser" "Tombstone" was part of the first Disney batch.
Thanks much for the reply!! Good news, with the exception of disc 2. Funny how often technical data on packages is often incomplete, absent or just wrong. This is definitely a problem on disc 2 because a lot of the content of disc 2 was in the HD broadcast and it was all gorgeous! I can't...
I just watched the Crossroads Guitar Festival on PBS in glorious HD. Looked awesome! So I looked up the DVD on DVD Empire and it's listed as 1:33-1. Can anyone confirm this?? If so a tremendous waste of a great looking widescreen concert shot in HD.
I've had two different standard editions, and they both had loads of video drop-outs/tape hits during the outdoor scenes, especially when he first realizes his powers and is running around on the roof-tops. Very dirty!! The Superbit version is massively cleaner by comparison, so they did do a...

OK, I just did the auto-calibrate and popped in "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" SACD and I'll tell you this: It kicks the crap out of the my former Denon, the AVR-2803 (which I really loved) Wow! Can't wait to wind up X-Men 2 or something similar when I have time. Double wow!!
Yeah, it's give or take $60 retail. I picked up the 3805 last night (which I basically will use as a pre-pro to my Rotel amp although I'll use the 3805 power for the surround back channels) and have yet to calibrate/tweek it. I work from home so it's killing me being a few rooms away and not...
I assume that many of you have 16x9 sets, and also hi-def. Has this soured you somewhat on the once great 'reference' discs? Those dvd's that used to make my jaw drop suddenly don't seem so spectacular when I see a very average movie like "Empire Records" in HD look worlds better than the finest...
I'll catch hell for this but prior to being buried by pop-rock ballad hell, Night Ranger's Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson replaced Glenn & KK as my favorite guitar team. KK is the weakest link of the four. Priest always had huge sonics/production, hopefully that will translate to the DVD.
What's the rule of thumb? I have a Toshiba 56H80, and just got HD sat & OTA. I had my set calibrated by ISF guys two years ago so grey-scale color temp etc accurate for DVD. Should these also be correct for 1080i?? Also, my convergence goes batty when switching to 1080i. Will this continue...
I figured home theater guys are the only folks who appreciate. The wife bought me an XBOX for Christmas, and I can't believe how great some of these games look and sound with the in-game DD and progressive scan. Absolutely phenominal. SSX3 for example has big, boomy bass and discrete rear...
WOW! that's more of a review than I bargained for! Thanks so much for taking the time. I'll pick this up. Heck, I owe it to you to buy it just because the effort you put in. Thanks again!
Anybody have this 4 disc set that's exclusive to Best Buy? Care to give me a brief review? There's no mention on the package as to whether or not the concerts are 16x9 etc. Thanks in advance
Not 5.1, but a glorious PCM 1506 stereo track. Steve Perry insisted they use the re-mastered audio from the CD catalog to lay over the top of the videos. Then they found quality tapes for the live footage. I read an interview with Steve. Played the DVD today. Sounds great. Pro Logic 2 and or...
Theatrically I remember the nip shot being when she first arrives and stands up out of the disco ball. I was actually surprised that it was shown. The DVD matte covers this.
I'm sure there has been talk of this before, but please post where I can find the most up to date list of these titles. The DTS web-site is way to tough to navigate. Thanks in advance -M
Don't forget "Hannibal". One of the finest DVD sets ever produced. Extras aside, this disc has always seemed under-appreciated as far as audio/video. Spectacular set.
I think if I could have ANY movie remastered with OAR and a DTS or at least a quality DD 5.1 track it would be 'The Commitments'. An S.E. better be in the works. If a studio feels there's enough of a fan base to pull the title for a re-release with a price-drop, than that title should also...
Hey Scott,
I'm a home theater geek who's lucky enough to work in the bizz. There's no specific date for 'Rain Man' but 1st quarter 03 is the target.
