My original post wasn't clear enough. I want to use a projector-- no TV, no TV speakers. I meant watch Cable. So, if i want to watch a news program at nite, I just want the sound to come from the center channel, not all 5 channels. I think if I use the ANALOG outs of the cable box into an...
Is there a processor that has a super "mono" mode that takes all 5.1 channels of a DD or DTS source and consolidates and combines all signals into the single center channel -- so I can watch TV or DVD with ONLY the center channel playing--not all 5 channels--and still not lose any of the soundtrack?
Well after clicking Submit I realized that I'm wwaaaay more than just merely disappointed. Now I'm actually kind of angry. So I went to Hoovers and pulled the MGM profile. Here's our man, I think. I'm going to kindly and calmly call his office and speak to his assistant Monday morning. I suggest...
I stand awash in a sea of disappointment. What is the best we can hope for? That no one buys this release? Shall we ask Ron to review it as a featured HTF title and write a blatantly honest review? Whether Ron has seen it or not I doubt he'll think much of the transfer...
Jack-- I noticed you're an Administrator. In your experience, are there any suggested/recommended ways to contact MGM? I feel like we're talking to ourselves here. I'd love to give MGM the benefit of the doubt as to why they're doing SL in P&S...
When out to dinner with friends and one of them says that a certain DVD looks "so awesome" when you know for a fact that you and all your pals here in HTF hate the f*cking transfer but you could never explain to your friends at dinner what EE and compression is and if you try to they just label...
My personal opinion which you all can disagree with:
The sound in Blackhawk Down is better than the sound in Lord of the Rings.
Blackhawk sound is layered, dynamic, subtle, jarring.
Rings sound is compressed, bass heavy, congested.
I really hope the Rings director cut has a more normally...
Does anyone know what companies actually make the DVD deluxe style packaging for the studios? For example, who actually manufactured the Fight Club or Tombstone DVD slip cases and panels, etc.. Thanks!
I know this is an older DVD release...but I watched "The Beach" last night on my ISF calibrated system and was impressed with the video quality. I searched our forum and couldn't find too much on this release, so I have a couple questions: 1. What are some of the other forum members opinion...
Why is the transfer of this DVD so totally average? Why wasn't it done anamorphically? Wasn't this a hit movie? I don't understand...Canonball Run has an excellent transfer and came out like 8 years before. Why not Weekend at Bernie's? Are there plans for a remaster?
I saw my friend's 36XBR450 pre and post ISF. Yup, ISF is better. If these things are important: depth, accuracy, naturalness, and sense of correctness then ISF is worth it. If you just want to watch CNN and CNBC then save the $250.
And you may not really appreciate it when the ISF tech...
Just picked up Cannonball Run and was VERY impressed with the picture quality for a film of this age. Anamorphic widescreen looks awesome compared to what I was expecting. Audio is marginal but whacha gonna do?
Now, does anyone know why Cannonball Run II is fullscreen? Does anyone own...
I keep reading that I need to put a light behind my TV to eliminate eye fatigure in a dark room when watching movies. What light do I use? Are ther special home theater lights? Why do I recall something about a gray light?
thanks
