I just got "UP" from Netflix. It is the "US Rental Version" from Disney/Pixar and has no subtitles.
Can anyone tell me if the full version has subtitles? Or is this just an instance of Disney being ***holes and not including even the most basic things on the rental copy?
Thanks.
SMK
Upstairs Downstairs. At times the audio is awful, and the picture quality is sorely lacking, but it's on videotape from 35 years ago. It was $249 and worth every penny. SMK
I purchased this last week and have watched parts of it. It is extremely grainy, which I presume to be the original photography, but it looks better than any previous version I've seen. I think I'll watch the whole movie in the next few weeks. SMK
I can't recommend a good DVD version, but it's been on MGM's HD station (and looked great), so I am hopefully a DVD will be coming out in the future. SMK
Well, this was very welcomed. I love this movie, but it's probably my wife's favorite movie, and May 5 is her birthday! I guess I know what she'll be getting! SMK
I am another person who'd like to see a good anamorphic DVD of this very good and beautiful movie. I have posted as much here in other threads. I made a DVD of the VHS recording I had from when this was on HBO years ago. I actually saw this about 2 years ago on TV when I was visiting my...
I watched my recording from HDNet last night, and I thought it looked great. I am hoping a DVD will be in the works now that it has apparently been restored. SMK
I have recorded it from HDNet and plan to watch it sometime this week. I did watch the first few minutes just to see the picture quality, and it looked great in HD. SMK
Since we've seen the release of "The Adams Chronicles," I wonder about another of my favorite PBS series from the 70's, "Alistair Cooke's America." Does anyone have any knowledge of whether this will be released on DVD??? SMK
Joe, Thanks for all the info and the mini history lesson. I, too, remember the opening credits with the great score and montage of scenes in different episodes. I will miss it (when I finally get the chance to see the show at all). SMK
Just remembering that the Adams Chronicles was to be released in May, I went to Amazon today to check to see if it was still on schedule for release. To my surprise Amazon says it was released 4/15. I added it to my queue at Netflix, but it is listed as "very long wait," so I may end up buying...
I'm sorry, it is in a snapper case. I was responding more to the fact that it has been released individually as opposed to being in the Streisand Collection set. SMK
Not only is it not on DVD it is my understanding that it was only released in limited amounts on VHS to certain college libraries. I have checked in RI and can't find these VHS tapes anywhere. I am unaware of any plans to release it on DVD, but I would love to see it also. SMK
Thanks for the post about this movie having been on TCM. I have wanted to see it again for a long time. I've even had my brother check into buying the R2 version when he visits London periodically, but he has never seen it on the shelves there. So, I'm glad to hear it was on TCM, and I have just...
I have newbie questions relating to what formats BD will allow you to output over component cables. I have a Panasonic plasma which does not have HDMI or DVI. I can add a DVI card to it, but have not done so so far because I have been quite happy with the picture quality of HD over component...
I like the Coen Brothers, but I'd still like the original on DVD. I had not thought about Mirage in some time. I remember seeing it in the movies when I was all of 13 and thought it was the cleverest movie ever made. I saw it on TV a few years later and thought, "What was I thinking?" It...
Does anyone have any info about this movie coming out on DVD? I think it's an extremely enjoyable movie with a first-rate cast and great acting. It has stood the test of time through at least 4 watchings, and I wish it were available on DVD. Is anyone else interested? Does anyone have...
Thanks for bringing up Enchanted April again. I even have my brother looking for it every time he goes to England hoping that it would have been released there. So far, no luck. Anybody? SMK
I saw this movie on TV many years ago. I liked it so much that I read all of Christiana Brand's Inspector Cockrill books. I enjoyed them all. Interestingly, my wife just reread Green for Danger two weeks ago. How is that for timing! I would love to see the movie again, and she's never seen it...
I watched the original DVD a couple of years ago, and I thought it looked pretty good considering the movie was made 40 years ago. It is a great movie, but if this is not a very significant improvement, I can't see a lot of reason to go out of my way to find it. SMK
I watched True Confessions on HDNet movies. I thought it was a very good transfer, and I presume it will look great on DVD. I used my DVD recorder to make a copy of it, but if the DVD has extras, I may buy it. If it had been released earlier, it would definitely have been a buy for me. SMK
If anyone is interested, I just found out that HDNet movies will be showing "True Confessions" on October 28. Luckily, I receive HDNet via D* and will be TiVo'ing it. SMK
Does anyone have any information about this movie being released on DVD? And, while we're at it, does anyone know anything about "Enchanted April?" TIA SMK
I agree that it would be wonderful to see this on DVD. You are correct about it never being released to home video, but a few years ago I did some research and found it had been released on VHS tape to some college and university libraries. I have searched all the colleges and universities in...
