I'm not quite sure this is a mistake with the dvd release. On YouTube there is a video that is obviously not sourced from this dvd and it begins the same way.
I noticed in The Squire of Gothos that there is an audio glitch with the mono sound. In Chapter 2 when Kirk is introducing his crew, the sound level suddenly drops for a couple of minutes. It's not like this in 5.1 nor on the old dvd 5.1. Could this be how it originally was before a remix?

During Hopelessly Devoted to You, at the end of the song, there were originally foley effects. It was nice because the song ended and Olivia was left by herself and all you could hear were crickets chriping and her love letter swirling around in the water. Those sounds have been taken out and...
I just finished watching The Man Trap....WOW!!! Absolutely beautiful and the best looking tv release I have ever seen! I also recreated the broadcast version by bringing up the pop up menu before the ending credits and watching the preview for the next episode..then when it faded out I hit the...
I think another reason people get a little upset with mistakes in Disney titles is that they know it will be years and years before a new edition comes out.
Is there still a chance that Disney will offer a replacement disc for the audio omissions? How long does it usually take to hear something on the matter?
I understand. It is frustrating when you find something amiss and it seems that people don't understand or care...and it feels worse that you can't do anything about it. That's why I hope Disney finds out about the soundtrack omissions.
Chuck, I said maybe. I'm with you on this. I am so very upset about the missing dialogue I can't begin to tell you. And this on top of it makes me even more upset. I was just proposing a "maybe."
I'm sure that Disney would probably want to know about the omissions. And here's hoping the rest of the film doesn't have any more. They didn't spend all of that money for the most perfect Pinocchio ever, only to have a few lines mistakenly left out. It's one thing when the material no longer...
I just wish we had a contact at Disney so we can let them know and maybe get some answers. They are good at correcting mistakes, if they know about them.
The film should be preserved and this was probably a mistake in the restoration process. Disney would probably like to know this so that the film will be seen as intended.
Could be. That's what we are trying to figure out. I wish someone could talk to the restoration team and find out what the audio source was and if this was intentional.
The 1985 vhs has the line as well. Here is what the souvenir book with the 1992 collector's vhs has to say about that sound restoration: "The first part of the process was to sonically bathe the existing magnetic composite masters, transferred from the original nitrate track in the 1950s. Next...

This is upsetting news about Jiminy's response during "Give A Little Whistle" being omitted. Could it have been mistakenly added years ago, possibly from an alternate take? If not, this needs to be fixed.
I am upset to hear that Jiminy's response to Pinocchio during "Give A Little Whistle" has been omitted. Could the line have been mistakenly added from an alternate take years ago and what we are hearing is correct? If not, this needs to be fixed.
This is the chance to fix the mistake from the last GWTW release where a couple of frames were mistakenly cut out at the end of a shot (when Ashley follows Scarlett into the library at Twelve Oaks.) Oh, and to include the REAL mono soundtrack to Oz.
