Amazon updated their listing for this set. It looks like there are an additional 18 cartoons on what we originally thought was just the "bonus features" disc 3. So for those keeping track, there are actually 68 cartoons in this collection. The price is looking a lot nicer now, especially for the...
I've seen a number of people mention that the book is the only good thing about the "swag" pack. Keep in mind that the digibook is going to be the packaging for the "swagless" edition as well, so unless you really need that shot glass, just order the regular edition.
Mr. Harris, I like the way you think. If only you were running this show! I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone at WB will wake up out of their "serve the bottom line at all costs" stupor, realize that they are effectively keeping the Mona Lisa in a vault, have a Disney Treasures type...
Criterion is definitely making up for their foot-dragging before getting into HD. Now I just want to see an official announcement and date for The Game on Blu, and I'm all set!
These days, I probably buy more family films than any other genre, just because they get the most repeat viewings. Most Hollywood blockbusters these days are good for one viewing, or maybe two, so I'll rent those. But a release like the upcoming Beauty and the Beast BD will probably get spun...
Get the original Blu-ray release--that's what I did. It's not as bad as everyone made it out to be. It's light years ahead of UHE, mostly because it looks like Predator--gritty and dark, not bright and sunny. For the extras, you can rent the DVD--they are almost identical.
But this is Blu-ray, not DVD. Loophole found! I for one am very much looking forward to this release. I have high hopes that it will be among the best catalog releases available on BD.
Wow, forget TNG on Blu-ray, where can I get one of those Enterprise pizza slicers? Seriously, I hope the bean counters decide to go whole hog on this project. I'm a Star Trek fan, and loved TNG, but I just can't see myself buying it on Blu-ray unless it's in HD from beginning to end (high...
This movie was very well done in 3-D, and though I'm not in a position to buy 3D equipment for home viewing yet, if I were to buy this title I would of course want to future-proof myself and get the 3-D version so I can start building a small 3-D library. Sorry Dreamworks, by making the 3-D...
Boy, I hate to think pessimistically, but given the delay in project funding, MGM's deep financial woes, and the fact that the deterioration by "vinegarization" of the only surviving 70mm road show print is unstoppable regardless of storage method used, I just can't help it.
Mr. Harris, is...
Buying based on the missing "2-disc set" above the Paramount logo has not steered anyone wrong, as far as I've seen on the forums. I can also confirm that this worked for me. I picked up the last copy on the shelf at Fry's yesterday, no 2-disc set on the sleeve or case insert, and no security...
The remastered version is $15.99 at Amazon (at least, for today). I actually ordered it as a blind buy, never having seen it. I know, I know! Anyway, at this price point, it's worth getting just to encourage excellent releases on Blu-ray.
Robert, thanks for that clear explanation. I find it pretty amazing when this topic comes up on other forums, many who have already bought (or who really, really want to buy) a new 1080p TV, try to rationalize this lacking feature by saying that a 1080p digital input really isn't necessary. To...
The most important factor to my anticipation of Dreamcatcher is that it's being directed by Lawrence Kasdan! Hopefully that will elevate it into the realm of great King movies (e.g. Dead Zone, Misery, Shawshank) and away from the schlock (Thinner, Christine). Not to disparage anyone's favorite...
Let me add a couple of movies I didn't see recommended here. Go is Doug Liman's fun ensemble movie with multiple diverging/converging storylines and quirky, interesting characters. The Limey has to be Stephen Soderburg's most underrated movie. It's an intimate revenge drama with Terence Stamp...
Did you guys like the Carlos Sainz in car shot when they crashed out on day two? The look on the co-driver's face was priceless. "Mierda!" Sainz was apparantly trying to cut a corner, came up on a parked car, swerved to avoid it, then lost control trying to avoid a car parked on the OTHER side...
I love my polarized sunglasses for cutting down glare. It does look kind of strange with tinted windows, and even safety glass (rear windows look like they have spots all over them).
What do you think the world would look like through these glasses?
I have no problem with this, and it's quite humorous. It's always been interesting to me how people can get so worked up over "Braves" or "Indians", but there's no corresponding outrage over the Minnesota Vikings. I happen to be 1/4 Danish, but I certainly don't think my heritage is being...
You guys missed the point though... Since you were eavesdropping on them, as soon as they started talking about the ending to a movie you haven't seen, you should have jumped out and blasted them! :D :emoji_thumbsup:
