The director's commentary on the Masters of the Universe disc is pretty hilarious. The thing is total camp yet he talks in total seriousness about his shots as if he had directed a European art house film.

I believe the different times are due to variations in the FPS. In prior showings, the film was shown at reduced, incorrect speeds causing the elapsed time to increase by a large amount.

I don't think it's so much that someone stops having fun at the movies when they decide to take an active interest in the technical and artistic aspects; it's that filmgoer's definition of the word expands. Fun can be watching something relatively brainless but visually and viscerally...
