I have narrowed my purchase decision down to a 61" Sony 4:3 set with a 16:9 mode - either the KP61HS20 or KP61HS30.
The only marked difference between the two sets is the protective screen - the 30 has it and the 20 does not. I see the screen as both a plus and a minus. A plus because I have...
Jeff - I'm currently going through the same purchase decision - ~$2500 for an RPTV. I'm leaning towards the Sony KP61HS30. It's a 4:3 set with a true 16:9 mode. List price on it is $2899, but Costco is selling them for $2499 plus tax and onecall.com is selling them for $2600 shipped. I have...
Dave,
Will Sears price match any online retailer for Sony products or does it have to be a "Sony authorized online retailer?"
And can I speak with any store associate or should I go directly to a manager?
Thanks,
Mike

What happens to the 1080 lines of HD source material when sent to a 4:3 set with a 16:9 enhanced mode (e.g., Sony HS or Toshiba)?
I understand that when these sets receive a DVD signal, all 480 lines are drawn within the 16:9 area of the screen, giving an equivalent picture to a widescreen...
Thanks Craig. Do you know if the Sony HS30 and Hitachi UDX models are still the best choices for 4:3 sets with an enhanced 16:9 mode? (Given my budget.)
I've seen the 53" Sony and 53" Hitachi selling at the local superstores for $2599 and $2499, respectively.
Let me start by saying that I followed this board regularly about two years ago, but have been away since.
I'm moving into a new house and need to decide on a monitor. The space I have to work with is 15' wide by 18' deep. I have an early generation Sony DVD player (DVP-S500D) without...
