I rarely post here, but I never, ever miss the roundup. It's a great resource I'm finding it hard to live without.
Get well soon Mike, this place ain't the same without you.
I just received this set as a gift in new, sealed condition. When I opened the box, there was no booklet included, only the dvds. Two questions:
1) Should the booklet have been included? All the reviews I have read mention a booklet.
2) If so, anyone know how I can contact Warner Home Video...
I'll go with some less obvious choices:
1. Strange Days. Underrated cyberpunk movie, never had an anamorphic transfer.
2. Until the End of the World (all versions). Another underrated cyberpunk movie from the 90's. I've owned the theatrical cut LD, extended Jap LD, and Italian DC dvd. I no...
Mark Cuban's blog has a contact form: Contact blog maverick. I have no idea if he actually reads this stuff, but it's worth a shot. Edit: Now that I think about it, he has quoted emails in his blog, so he probably does read them.
I agree. I'm format neutral, but I can't believe some of the more insensitive posts I've read on this forum from Blu fanboys. My sister bought into HD-DVD so her son could have Transformers and Shrek (she couldn't afford to buy into both), and when I told her of Warner's move, she was crushed. I...
A couple of weeks ago, I flew Dallas to Miami (via American) and Miami to Madrid (via Iberia). When I got to Madrid, I was told my bags had missed the flight and would be there the next day (this is the standard line of B.S. when an airline has no idea where your bags are). I created a missing...
I haven't had a chance to play around my new gear yet. I'll try it out this weekend and report back. I am certainly hoping that TrueHD will be passed ok over HDMI as PCM. I am now wondering why Onkyo bothered with on-board lossless audio decoders if no player will pass lossless bitstream data...
I just bought an Onkyo TXSR605 receiver with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA decoders, mainly so I could pass lossless audio via HDMI. I know that no existing player will pass the DTS-HD MA track raw bitsream, but is this the case with Dolby TrueHD as well? If I can't send a TrueHD track in raw...
Here are the features I'm looking for: 1) Sleek/slim design. I'm buying this for a trip to Spain later this summer, so it must slip in the pocket of my jeans (comfortably). 2) 16:9 picture mode. All my computer monitors are widescreen so this is a must. 3) 7 megapixel or greater. 4)...
Anyone having problems with this disc? I've tried playing it at least a dozen times and it always crashes my player (Tosh hd-xa1 w/ 2.0 firmware) upon insertion. If I have a defective, I'll have to return to Universal, my copy was a Christmas gift.
I tried updating to v2.0 last night but I do not think it worked. I put the disc in, and the display read 'VER UP'. Then it seemed to freeze at that point. I left it that way for a couple of hours, then finally went to bed. When I woke up this morning the player's display still read 'VER UP' so...
As others have said, Blockbuster now wins hands down for several reasons: 1) No throttling. If I want a movie, and it is available, they ship it. 2) Total Access. Twice the number of movies as before. Netflix can't touch this. 3) Netflix never double dips. Blockbuster does this all the...
You're right about Blind Faith, but Derek and the Dominoes failed to follow-up their debut b/c Clapton refused to leave his house. This is when he decided to take a few years off and do heroin. I read a Clapton interview in which he said that one of the members of D&TD (don't remember which)...
Wow, great thread. Raiders is my all-time favorite movie. I think I first saw it in late July of '81 when I was eight. Not sure why I didn't see it sooner, but it probably had something to do with my strict parents. By the time I talked them into taking me to see it, I already had the 12"...
My setup is a Samsung DVD-HD950 outputting 720p via an HDMI cable to a Panasonic AE700. Anamorphic dvds look great but non-anamorphic titles look stretched out. It's probably a setting on the player doing this but I can't figure it out. Anyone know why I'm not getting these to display properly?
I haven't framed one like this before, so I'm looking for ideas. It's acrylic on canvas, a lot thicker than theatrical posters. The things I've framed in the past, I had them dry mounted and framed with glass. I've heard that plexiglass may be a better way to frame archival type stuff, though...
