Any thoughts on what this is on Samsung display?

My 87 year old Mother-In-Law has this area in the left-upper corner of her Samsung UN60F6350AFXZA Display. (Please ignore the reflection of the lamp in the upper right-hand corner!) I do not think it is a logo burn-in since most of those are in the bottom right corner. Bad pixels? Any thoughts...

new Sony KDL70R550A-need A/V connection advice

I have a new Sony KDL70R550A HDTV on the way, replacing an old KDSR70XBR2. I have quite a few devices connected to the old set, and want to be able to connect them as best I can to the new. I will list them below, and how they are currently connected to the old XBR2. The problem I have is...

Blockbuster does not appear to be receiving new titles from the studios

(Moderator, please move to the appropriate forum, if necessary.) I have been a fairly happy Blockbuster online customer for a few years. I know everyone can say, "I told you so"; but, I have noticed every new title, (Blu-ray or regular DVD), in my queue is "on order" for the last two...

    Gladiator BD exchange

Has anyone heard back from Paramount on the Gladiator BD exchange? I have left two voice mails, and sent two e-mails, with no response. When I called the customer service number, (888) 889-9456, this morning, the mailbox is full.

DolbyTrueHD much "softer" than DTS-MA (on my PS3/Denon3808)?

I have noticed that the "quality" of DolbyTrueHD from my PS3 is much lower than DTS-MA. My PS3 is connected to a Denon AVR-3808CI with an HDMI cable, and the PS3 is set for LPCM. DTS-MA comes through loud and clear, as well as PCM, which really sounds the very best. When DolbyTrueHD is played...

    PS3 to Denon AVR-3808CI questions

I currently have my PS3 connected HDMI to my Sony KDS-R70XBR2 HDTV, and SP-DIF using linear PCM to my Yamaha RX-V596 AVR. Needless to say, my audio experience is less than optimal. So, I purchased a Denon AVR-3808CI. I plan to connect the PS3 HDMI to the Denon for both audio and video...

I think "Stop Making Sense" would be great on Blu-ray

I was looking back in my DVD Profiler, and realized my very first DVD purchase, along with my first player and 5.1 system in November of 1999 was the Talking Heads-"Stop Making Sense". (Wow-how time flies!) I think this would be a great candidate for Blu-ray, don't you?

Am I seeing 1080 with my PS3 and Toshiba 42H81?

I have my PS3 attached through the progressive component input on my Toshiba 42H81, using the Sony conversion cable set. The PS3 is set to Component and 1080i. Am I really seeing 1080 when I view my Blu-Ray discs? (Remember, this set is too old to have HDMI.) Thanks.

Has anyone seen the "Celtic Woman" music DVD?

I caught part of this presentation as it was ending on PBS last night. Has anyone seen the DVD that came out on the 1st of March?

DVD player with memory buffer for layer change?

I always thought if a DVD player had a memory buffer, it could make a layer change practically unnoticeable to the viewer. Is this possible, and if so, does anyone know of any models?

    Denon 1803-component input

My Denon 1803 receiver specs show it can handle 27MHz progressive component. I have a Toshiba SD-6200 progressive DVD player, and a Toshiba 65H80 TV. Should I continue to have my DVD video feed straight-through to the TV, or can I route it through the Denon, without any loss of signal or...

    DVD-Basen is down (for good?!)

DVD-Basen, one of the best sites I ever visited, to see just about every review of a given DVD, appears to be closed down, thanks to the hosting service. If someone doesn't help this guy get this site back up, it would be a great loss.

I'm tiring of the new edition DVD game-aren't you?.

I'm getting a little tired of waiting what seems like forever for my favorite movies to come out on DVD, purchasing them, and then having them reissued in a better edition. I don't even have what I consider a large collection, and here is a list of DVD's that I already have, that have been...

    signal drop with PS2 s-video

I have a friend using the s-video connection on a PS2. When a dark scene in a DVD movie comes up, the signal drops off completely to the TV. He has swapped-out the TV, swapped-out the PS2, and swapped-out the Monster cable. He has even taken the PS2 and the cable to the vendor, and connected...

Tosh DST-3000 forced to buy DirecTV?!

I was all excited yesterday, when I got what I thought was a great price on a Toshiba DST-3000 for my 65H80. Then, today, the dealer called me and told me I had to pay a $150 fee if I was not going to subscribe to DirecTV. I only intended to use the tuner for over-the-air HDTV transmissions...

    Snow White -Canadian version?

I purchased a copy of Snow White at my local Best Buy and it seems fine. Then, I purchased another one for a friend from a distributor in California, and it has labelling indicating it is a version that is to be sold only in Canada! I really can't tell any difference in what is on the disks...

    DVD Reviews-Pixelization, Artifacting, Edge Enhancement

Nearly every DVD review I see mentions weaknesses in the video image referring to either pixelization, artifacting, and edge enhancement. If these are apparent to various reviewers that I assume are observing this with the naked eye, then why are the studios issuing movies on DVD with such...

    New Toshiba 65H80-have questions

I've had a new Tosh 65H80 for a few days, tuned with VE and Tosh SD6200. I think I have everything set correctly; but, I have a question or two. Saving Private Ryan, (1.85), filled the whole screen, and looked great. I put in Gladiator, (2.35), and it looked great with the expected small bars...
