"Babylon 5" - Will there be a price drop?

That 30 percent figure of ebay sellers rip people off makes me laugh. I've been buying and selling items on ebay, including DVDs, for years with absolutely no problems whatsoever. My feedback is above 600 with 100 percent positive. The people who tend to get ripped off are the ones who don't...

Analog Hole Bill Would Impose a Secret Law

Typical. Consumers lose once again. At the rate things are going, VEIL probably monitors what programs we watch. "Hey, we've got a household here watching too much Al Jazeera! Better send them off to Guantanemo!"

Warner films on BD-9 Blu Ray?!

So guys, anyone have any idea how Warner plans to introduce its films onto Blu Ray? I've heard rumors that they want to encode their films onto a DVD-9 equivalent Blu Ray disk. If so, isn't the quality going to be atrocious? Even with the most advanced codecs 1080p should look pretty weak on Blu...

Lists of Blu-ray & HD DVD Titles (Scheduled, Announced, Rumored, Wish List)

Anyone think Fox will be releasing the Alien Quadrilogy once again for BluRay? Also, anyone know if Warner's first Blu releases are going to be BD-9. If so, it sounds like Warner is discreetly giving a middle finger to the BluRay crowd.

    V: The Series

Sorry if I seem I'm thread crapping, but I just want to give my opinions on the series from my current perspective. I loved both the V miniseries and even loved the V series as a child. Watching the series again on DVD...it didn't hold up well for me at all! The super low budget on each episode...

It's Official: HD DVD and Blu-ray Can Limit High Resolution To HDMI Only

Actually, I should have rephrased that. I see Toshiba losing out in the high definition DVD war and wanted to compare the results of a format war being similar to what has happened with DVD Audio/SACD. Not sure if either format is doing better than the other in the audio arena.

It's Official: HD DVD and Blu-ray Can Limit High Resolution To HDMI Only

I don't see how Toshiba is going to win this thing. All I see them doing is pulling Blu-Ray down with them similar to the DVD-Audio/SACD fiasco.

    LAND OF THE DEAD dvd

Personally, I only want the director's cuts of any film I like on DVD. By director's cuts I mean the director's ORIGINAL vision of the film. If they want to take out or alter footage the studio mandated they change, fine. The exception to that is when director's want to make their movies more PC...

It's Official: HD DVD and Blu-ray Can Limit High Resolution To HDMI Only

I think the writing's on the wall at this point. Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are going to be DOA when they launch. What do they have going against them? 1)Studio support split down the middle. 2) No true high def for "early adopters." 3) In the case of Blu-Ray, potentially harmful rights...

    Paramount August

Will these editions be known as Witness: The Witnessed Edition, Truman Show: The Showiest Edition, The High and the Mighty: The Mightiest Edition and Island in the Sky: The Cloudy Edition? These "cutesy" Special Edition monikers are lame!

    HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Merger Possible?

Hopefully Toshiba isn't getting cold feet at the last second. If they pull out of these talks I'll definitely factor that in my decision on which of the two formats I'll support. I'm not independently wealthy so I'm choosing one format, if either. I don't care if a high def format takes two more...

    HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Merger Possible?

I just hope that, when all is said and done, we have a true 1080p HD format, without compression artifacts and true lossless audio. Blu-Ray seemed more likely IMHO to offer this promise. HD has to really blow standard DVD out of the water quality-wise or else nobody is really going to care. Most...

    HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Merger Possible?

This could be BIG news. The Digital Bits just reported that officials within the Blu-Ray camp have said that they may be interested in merging their technology with HD-DVD. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents Would such a compromise be possible without watering down the potential quality...

Digital Bits Reports: APPLE joins Blu-Ray. Brace yourself for a format war!

If we want the best HD has to offer, Blu-Ray must win. HD-DVD is too much of a compromise IMHO. Hopefully Sony gets its act together and allows component video connections at full resolution or else a lot of HDTV owners won't be upgrading for a very long time.

Will HD-DVD and Blu-Ray do away w/ region free?

As a happy owner of a region free JVC DVD player I've been enjoying a number of domestic U.S. titles from other regions with more extra features and/or DTS sound. I'm assuming that the new HD disk formats will incorporate region coding and am worried that it may be more difficult to crack the...

War of the Worlds tv series...I wonder?.

This is the holy grail of TV series for me that I'm crossing my fingers will get a release. The first season was excellent, IMHO. The show had a lot of potential that was never realized. In a theme similar to the long winded conspiracy episodes of the X-Files, it was revealed during the first...

HD-DVD Title Pricing Guide Announced for October Releases-

Now that I finally have a DLP HDTV, quality is going to be the deciding factor in which camp I choose. After all is said and done, if HD-DVD has noticeable compression artifacts I won't support it. Unlike VHS vs. Beta, quality will be the deciding factor if one format wipes out the other in the...

Is this a setback for HD-DVD??

At least the tech companies are finally listening to us home theater enthusiasts. I have always wanted to watch movies and surf the net at the same time. :rolleyes Personally, I think the DVD-ROM stuff is a nice option but have yet to even throw in a disk into my PC to see any of the stuff. All...

'Day of the Dead: SE' audio dubs identified-NOT THAT BAD

I watched Day last night and wouldn't have even noticed the audio dubs if they had not been pointed out to me. Has anyone confirmed the dubs aren't the original production audio? To be honest, I could care less about this flaw. It didn't detract from my enjoyment of the movie one bit. Now, of...

Day ot the Dead and Manhunter

Actually, Manhunter will be in 2.0 Dolby Surround I believe, but that is a valid question. They always remaster the theatrical cuts for 5.1 or 6.1 it seems but never when they include a separate extended cut along with it. Case in point, Wicker Man-Theatrical-5.1, Extended-mono...

Is there an affordable way to catch up on X-Files seaons 1-7? (w/REPRICING INFO)

Here's my take on what is really hurting the video game and music industries.......charging too damned much money for a technically inferior product! I'm not a huge video game player so I balk at the at least $50 price tag charged on new video games. Does a computer or PS2 game cost more to...

The "Discovered DS9 on DVD" thread (no spoilers)

I'll just say that the season 2 finale sets the tone that the rest of the series will follow. Don't worry, the best is yet to come. I love TNG but I LOVE DS9!

Saving Private Ryan - DD vs. DTS

People keep mentioning different sound mixes used for films on occasion in regards to the format encoded in. My question is this: Why isn't there 1 master mix used to create all 5.1 audio versions of a particular film? For something like Saving Private Ryan, did they boost the bass level and...

Jackass Movie: Not at Wal-Mart or K-Mart

In response to the last thread, what horrible crimes are you referring to? What people are you referring to as being treated horribly? You need to be very specific when you are referring to these kinds of things so we can see where you are coming from. I personally thought Jackass was equally...
