Rory, I didn't know that about Papst ... not surprising as I don't use them every day. I have 6 of their 80mm 220V fans in my system ... 4 in my equipment rack and 2 in my projector coffee table / hush box. My most recent purchase was only 6 months ago ... and they are identical to the...
Brad, Got any friends travelling overseas ? Ask someone to pick it up for you in Singapore. It's the cheapest place to buy stuff ... and no 110 / 240V problems.
The 3.6s have been around for over ten years now. The 2.4s are brand new with all the latest driver developments. I have heard the 3.6s a number of times over the years, but have not yet heard the 2.4s. Considering the ten years of development and the rave reviews I would certainly think the...
David, The idea behind the method outlined is to ensure that the BFD receives a strong enough signal to avoid problems with low level A/D conversion. Like you I have a passive sub and amp with no volume control. It hasn't been a problem for me. At reference level with high level LFE...
Greg,
I had exactly the same problem when setting up my BFD. What little knowledge I have on the subject leads me to believe that we are simply suffering from a time related problem.
My test disc is a series of sine waves, each five seconds long. When I'm at the frequency with the...
For what it's worth this configuration sounds best to me with my setup -
Mains - Thiel CS2.2 - 80Hz
Centre - Thiel SCS2 - 120Hz
Sides - Thiel SCS2 + Shiva Sonosubs - Large
Rears - Energy Take 2 - 120Hz
LFE Subs - Shiva Sonosub x 2 - 80Hz
However this is on a lowly DC-1 V4.
But I'm happy. :D
Germain,
I've also read some of your posts over at AVS, so I have a pretty good idea of where you're at with the system building.
As I'm sure you have already found, there is only one Lex dealer here in Singapore and they do not tend to discount much. Even used units which have been traded on...
I picked up an 1124 last Saturday so they are definitely shipping. IIRC a number of people complained about the input sensitivity on the 1100 being setup for professional use. Well, the good news is that the 1124 has an input sensitivity switch on the back for selection of either +4dBu or -10dBV...
David,
To get over the top of a RPTV I think you would need to effectively have a full flexy with three or four legs on either side of the TV and then very long shelves over the top. IMHO two legs on either side of a RPTV for that height will not be stable.
Yes, DTS CDs don't have PCM. The DTS CD fools the player into thinking it is a normal CD. Through the digital out you get DTS which needs a decoder. Through the analog out it sounds like white noise.
