    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Vertigo -- in Blu-ray

Well this thread took a turn for the odd........Robert and Andre the Giant (in his roll as Bigfoot from Six Million Dollar Man) go back in time to fight for The Alamo! Only on Pay Per View, proceeds to go to film preservation.

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Deliverance (40th Anniversary) -- in Blu-ray

LOL Right. I didn't assume it would but had hoped that it was due to the old DVD's transfer that it looked as bad as it did.....my only other experiences with the film prior to the 1999 DVD were on TV and Cable P&S.

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Vertigo -- in Blu-ray

I believe I read somewhere that it was a missing couch spring squeak when Stewart sat down in Midge's apartment..........I Think.

Yes I know, hence my "new". I have never seen either BR disc in action....only the DVD transfers.

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Deliverance (40th Anniversary) -- in Blu-ray

Regarding this "new" transfer, have better mastering tools or just the better transfer made the tinted day for night scenes any better? I can usually go with (or in badly executed examples, ignore) this age old technique but in Deliverance's case some of those shots were bizarrely atrocious!

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Deliverance (40th Anniversary) -- in Blu-ray

Basically, yeah, it's a rip off of Deliverance with a dash of Hill's Have Eyes & Most Dangerous Game thrown in for good measure. But it's still in the "Surviving nature or surviving man's nature" mind set of Deliverance. But hey, you tell me......I see the earmarks of Deliverance all over...

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Deliverance (40th Anniversary) -- in Blu-ray

Without Deliverance there never would have been a Canadian rip-off "Rituals". Honestly though, if you see Deliverance as just "backwoods horror" then you haven't really watched the film or certainly read the book....it's about much more than that.

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Patton -- in Blu-Ray

I've scanned about 10 of these 17 pages to see why RAH removed his initial "words" regarding this transfer.....why did he edit/delete it?

    RIP Nora Ephron

Aw man. I just re-re-re watched Julie & Julia the other day with my wife and commented while watching the extras on how I love her personality. R.I.P. you were an original.

    Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock

I would like to think the man who wrote the novel that the film is based on would have a small roll, seeing as he is the one who did the homework on Gein (and many others) for the novel to begin with. Herman should certainly have representation seeing as it is his score that truly made the...

    Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock

Yeah, I'm aware of that but neither did Ed Gein. There's also no Bernard Herman it seems (so far).....Your point?

    Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock

Wait a minute....Ralph Macchio as Joe Stefano? THAT is actually an interesting choice. But it doesn't seem to have Robert Bloch anywhere, I mean they even have Saul Bass & Ed Gein in the cast for god's sake but not the writer of the original novel?

    Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock

Who would you rather have playing Leigh, Anne Heche? ....................oh. Knowing Hollywood They'll probably have Keira Knightley playing Pat Hitchcock and Robert Pattinson playing Anthony Perkins. Hmm...as much as I hate Twilight, Pattinson might actually be able to pull that...

    Total Recall 2012

Yeah, that's what I have been saying over at IMDB and YouTube (don't know why I go to those places as you get more thoughtful opinions out of sports bar bathroom stalls). "It seems to be a mash-up of the original Total Recall - Blade Runner - The Bourne Identity - Minority Report and...

    Total Recall 2012

Well...here's the first trailer: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWMhADqlPYg ...yep. I am not a fan of this decade long remake virus overtaking "Hollywood" and this doesn't alleviate my distaste with the trend very much. Yeah it's glossy and loud, but the fact that the filmmakers are again...

Ralph McQuarrie, dead at age 82

The Original Trilogy, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Cocoon, CEO3K, Battlestar Galactica....the list goes on. A great Artist, and from what I've read over the years, a sweet and kind person.

Eight Stills From THE THING Prequel!

Well I finally watched this and I see that I was correct about many of my concerns but the two things (sic) that made this not work for me never crossed my mind beforehand as I thought the filmmakers, being "such fans of the Carpenter version", would have infused this film with them....character...

    Ferris Bueller 2?

....I was surprised to see even one positive vote on a sequel before the fact of it being a commercial was brought up. Without John Hughes what would be the point? Hell, even if Hughes were still alive I would still be dubious...going "back home" (in films or in life) quite often isn't possible...

    WORST films of 2011

While I didn't see it as one of the worst films of 2011 - (to be honest, I haven't actually seen that many new films this year or in the last 3 years...been in survival mode since 2008 and not much has appealed to me lately anyway) : Cowboy's and Aliens seemed at first to be just odd enough to...

    The Phantom Menace - 3D

For me, the ultimate saber fight will always be the climactic battle in Empire. Second being the final moments of Luke and Vader's fight aboard Death Star 2 in Jedi when the coral voices in the soundtrack raise as Luke gives into his anger to defeat his father....still sends chills up my spine...

    The Phantom Menace - 3D

So now I can see the horrid writing-acting-directing shooting off the screen at me in 3 dimensions? Sounds grea.....nah...still sounds sucky. How the hell this man made THX-1138 I'll never understand.

    WORST films of 2011

Hmm... Battle LA was insipid patriotic gulf war justification dreck masquerading as Sci-fi action fare. The Rite........how the hell do you make a movie about exorcism with ANTHONY HOPKINS as and have the final exorcism be that boring? ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR GODS SAKE! Arthur Meh, Russell Brand...

Anyone up for the Fright Night remake?

I didn't make my sarcastic point very well and that's my fault....I meant that when some of us complain in various forums about how we hate the large amount of remakes the "they are just going where the money" excuse is used quite a lot and I find that to be an odd defense of the studios...

Anyone up for the Fright Night remake?

Hey hey hey now Hammer.....you should just be happy that we still have the original and not have an opinion at all on these remakes unless it is excepting, and CERTAINLY don't criticize the studios for the constant flow, they're just going where the money is. Sorry, I just see that (or...

    FRIGHT NIGHT (2011) TRAILER

I agree with the idea that if a remake strays too far from the original's intent then you Should re-name it. As far as Peter Vincent's character in this remake goes, he is no longer a late night horror show host (as there aren't many if any late night horror shows on anymore for a modern kid...

Rise of The Planet of the Apes

Looks interesting I have to admit, and the effects are of course the attention grabber (being WETA), but I might give it a shot come August..........can't be worse than Burton's garbage nor can it be worse than the last film I "took a chance on" in the theaters Battle: L.A. so ....whats to lose?
