"Near Dark". When I started play, the A1 didn't give me the warning message and automatic switchover to 480p output resolution. The upconversion was beautiful.

It will upconvert anything that is not copy protected. I am watching it via component since my 6-year-old Pioneer has only component inputs. If I insert a copy protected SC disc, I get a warning message followed by an automatic switchover to 480p.

I've had zero problems. My player has v1.4. I probably just jinxed myself :)

I still think my LaserDisc of Evil Dead II is way cool. The disc itself is blood-red and plays fine on my DVL-91.
