>>White walls + white ceiling + bright PJ + matte white screen = one very washed out picture Ooooh, I was hoping you wouldn't say that! My ceiling is angled and about 8 feet higher than the screen would be if it makes a difference. I like the idea of the white screens because of the...
I work for a distributor and we get a pretty good discounts on Infocus stuff. I am debating between the 4805 and 5000. I can not find any local place to actually go and see these units so I am in the dark on both of them. Has anyone actually seen the 5000 in action? I am mainly concerned...
Hello, Sorry to spamulate this forum board with my recent posts about projectors in the last couple days, but I have decided to buy a projector and screen in the next 2 weeks, and up to this point, I kew nothing about them AT ALL. So I am thinking of getting the Infocus 4805 or the Infocus...
Hey! How does this projector handle 4x3 material like an Xbox? Does it have a stretch mode? How is it? Can it also display it in the correct 4x3 format? If so, What happens on the sides? Thanks Also, what screens are you guys using? I would like 100". THanks
OK, So I am thinking of getting rid of my ISF calibrated Sony 61HS20 and buying an Infocus 4805 or 5000 model. What is the deal with running cables from the DVD player, Xbox, VCR, etc. to the projector if it is ceiling mounted? Do you have to put your components on the side of the room...
Actually, if you would like to see pictures, please email me: [email protected] and I will send them. Also, I just wanted to mention that I am not criticizing Greggs work at all. He did a hell of a job on my set. The picture looks fantastic otherwise. I would not mind this problem if...
First off: If anyone is curious in seeing pictures of what we are talking about, reply to this thread with your email, and I will send you some. Thanks Hi Gregg, We didn't watch enough material for it to surface. The only time it is visible is when there is a brightish white area next...
Hi, My Sony KP-61HS30 RPTV's blue CRT is blooming everywhere on the left hand side. It affects a little over 1/3 of the screen from the left to almost the middle. It is most noticeable when there is a bright area next to a dark area. The dark area is overflowing with brilliant blue light...
I just want to add my 2 cents to this discussion..
As others have stated, the SAME model TVs from the factory are going to vary SIGNIFICANTLY. I have witnessed this firsthand.
My first TV was a Sony 61-HS20.
Out of the box, this TV had the most amazing picture I have ever seen in my life...
Gosh I hope so!!! I imagine by then, we well all have LCD or Plamsa technology that can be auto calibrated to D6500K with the touch of a button. Convergenge/Geometry issues as well as ISF'ers will be a thing of the past.
Thanks guys! I was getting a little worried because I am having Gregg L. come out to ISF my set in 2 weeks. I would hate to have him do it, then a major malfunction nullifies the calibration because of replacement parts.
OH, BTW Is there anything I can do to eyeball the inside of the set to determine if one of these things blew up? Where are they and what would I look for? Thanks
Hi, I am getting my RPTV ISF'ed this month by Gregg and I have a couple questions. #1) I have a Sony DVP-NS755V DVD player. I have it connected via monster component cables and have compared calibrating my TV with the Avia disk using both the INTERLACED and PROGRESSIVE settings on the DVD...
Hi, I just got a brand new Sony 61-HS30 TV 3 days ago. This morning, when I turned it on, the were two very quick yet noticeable snap/crack type noises and the screen flickered twice in tandem with these noises. Is this something I should be worried about? Any idea what could have...
Wow, thanks guys. I guess I'll keep the 5ES. I really liked the composite to S-Video conversion feature and I thought the remote looked cleaner and more functional. After reading some posts, I see that most people are unhappy with the remote though. Thanks again
Hi, I have had my 5ES for about 1 year and I really like it. I am thinking of selling it and getting the 4ES for a couple of different features plus the 7 channel. Any glaring reason why I should not do this? Thanks
If you are doing the Sept weekend...8th or 9th would be good for me. I am in Vegas until the 7th. Anytime in October could be accomodated by me. Thanks
I have similar problems with my set. I am starting to wonder if it is a grayscale problem with one of the colors being way out of range. On DVDs, take careful notice of colors. Do they look natural, or does something seem incorrect. Also, do you notice the MPEG compression artifacts more...
Here is one instance where the problem is REALLY noticeable. Jurassic Park DVD In chapter 14, 38-42 seconds into the chapter. Look at the left hand side of the screen at the background mountains. Many other DVD transfers have similar type flicker, but it is much more subtle than this...
Thanks Brian for the input, but this is not the case. I actually came across that when I first got my DVD player though. My old TV did not have S-video. I had it going though my VCR and the output was terrible. Not a flickering, but a slow rolling color and brightness change.
Hi, I have noticed that on some DVDs there is a subtle, yet easily noticeable brightness flicker during some scenes. I was wondering if this is normal or if there is something wrong with my display or DVD player. When I pause the DVD, it does not exhibit the flicker during the scene in...
Bump.... Please! I would love to have Gregg to come out and do my set Cheektowaga, Hamburg, Boston, Amherst, Williamsville, Lackawanna, Buffalo, Depew, Batavia, Lockport, Eden, Tonawanda, Niagara Falls, West Seneca, Orchard Park
