Hi Jim, Can you tell us how much you power taper the array by? What is the power of a driver at the end vs the power of a driver in the middle? If this is confidential (ie you sell your x-over or whatever) then don't worry about it :) Thanks, Scott
The RPS units are different. The material used in the ribbons can take more power, however they also roll off above 10khz and require active EQ to boost them back up. The RPS units also have 6 ribbon "turns" (runs) while the stock BG units only have 4 ribbon turns.
Wisdom Audio uses the RPS...
I would plan on mating this system with a sub woofer, perhaps a dipole one.
Although the RD75 probably can't be pushed below 500hz, the Z130 drivers (www.radiapro.com) can have an x-over at 150hz without too much trouble.
I'll check out htguide! Thanks!
Hello,
I made a concept drawing of a few line array ideas that I have floating around in my head. I know that these designs aren't cheap, but I'm trying to come up with the ultimate performance line array which I could hopefully build someday. The length of these lines could be increased for...
Since they advertise 40-150 wpc, I wouldn't worry about power as long as you are within that range. Remember that doubling your power only gives you an extra 3db of SPL. So if you go from an 80wpc amp to an 160wpc amp, you can basically turn your system up an extra 3db.
If your amp is 80wpc...
Looks great! I love the color.
Since you have the room, you should try pulling your speakers away from the wall to see if it improves the sound any. You may be pleasantly surprised!
I would have to say that audio is more important than sound. Sound/music invokes emotions. Try an interesting experiment. Watch a movie with the sound off, and then turn the sound up and watch the movie with the TV off. I have a feeling that the version with the sound playing will give you...
I am powering 4 12-inch drivers (two per side... see www.wisdomaudio.com for more information) with 150 watts per sub using a Citation 7.1 amp. They can play much louder than I would ever want them too in a very large room... so you should be okay!
