Can anyone tell me if the Best Buy $50 off receiver coupon has any limitations (brand, price, etc.), or is it off of anyone that they carry? Thanks, Michael
CraigL,
Are you sure you were looking at a TXL model? It appears that there is also a TXK version of the set out there without component ins. The owners manual covers 4 sets (TXK and TXL for both 32" and 36") and clearly mentions the component ins are for the TXL only.
Michael
Eric,
My 32" set definately does the squeeze trick via a remote button or through the regular menu. The user manual is the same for both sets, so I would imagine the only difference between Jason and my set is the size.
I paid $499 at Sears...but I had to call 5 different stores to find one...
I just bought the 32" version (TXL3276). It is a great set, but it does have a couple of issues that I think you all should be aware of before bringing home a 110+ lb. set.
1) While it does allow you to switch between component and S-Video connections for video, audio input 2 is shared for...
Dan,
I believe the component/s-video problem was that the audio inputs were shared between the two. So, you can switch between the video sources fine, but the sound will be wrong on one on them (e.g. S-Video source sound through the TV speakers while watching a DVD).
Of course, if you listen...
Samsung's TXL3276 is a non-flat screen set that retails around $499. It does have the squeeze button on the remote (labeled as picture size). It has been discontinued, but a replacement model is expected soon. Unfortunately, it is not certain that the new model's remote will still have that...
UPDATE:
Well the good news is that according to Samsung, this set will support simultaneous component and s-video connections.
The bad news is that I cannot find any store in my area with any left in stock.  I don't mind waiting a little bit for the replacement model, but I am...
Thanks for the replies. The $499 price is from my local Sears and is actually marked down from $519 because it is discontinued. They only had the display model left which they offered to sell me for $450, but I declined.
When I got home, I called the next closest Sears and they had 2 in stock...
I am very interested in this set because of it's 32" size, squeeze feature on remote, and $499 price tag.
However, I have downloaded the owner's manual pdf and it appears that you might not be able to use both the component and s-video inputs simultaneously. I want to be able to hookup a DVD...
My local Target's price on Winnie the Pooh was $16.99. There is a peel-off coupon on the front for a free pack of 48 crayons worth $1.99. Of course, I had to go to a separate aisle to find them.
David--Thanks for the great work. Be sure to let us know what happens on the in-store pickup.

I went to my local Best Buy at 10:15am this morning and walked out with the last copy! It turns out they only got 3 or 4 in according to the employee I asked. The BB ad says that a minimum of 20 copies with the CD will be in each store...but I guess not all on the first day!
The free CD-ROM is...
I would recommend starting with just one HD set top box to see how you like it (and maybe get a standard DirecTv box for the lesser used TV).
You might also want to check how much programming is in your area before taking the leap.
Good luck,
Michael
The one box should receive HD satelite and decode it as well as upconvert any standard def material. I believe most boxes will also decode OTA HD, so you should be set with just one box per HDTV.
I don't own one yet, so can't give you any specific recommendations as far as brand/model, etc...
At the minimum you will need an oval (18" x 24") dish to pick up 2 satelites, plus 2 set top boxes. I believe most of the boxes have an input for an antenna for OTA signals.
I have a Philips HDR312 (30 hour standalone) with lifetime service and absolutely love it! .:emoji_thumbsup: I am switching to a DirecTivo next week and will be selling off my old unit after the new unit is up and running. One thing is for sure, I refuse to watch live TV anymore.
FYI. Tivo is...
Can anyone confirm that Fry's in-store price will be $79.99? I am worried because I didn't see it in their newspaper ad, and would really hate to make a 1 hour detour for nothing.
Thanks,
Michael
Thanks for the dts responses.
Actually, I already own a dts copy of the current Image release. I was trying to decide if I should dump it with the new version coming out.
Michael
Do any of the current 27" Sony WEGAs have an auto 16:9 mode feature? The Sony website seems to imply that all 3 models only have the manual (user menu) enabled version.
Thanks,
Michael
