John Brown- Your TV is "HD Ready." It lacks an HD tuner. This doesn't mean you can't watch HDTV... it just means you can't watch HDTV by plugging an antenna into it. You need an HD source. From what you've described, your cable box is not an HD cable box. Call your cable company and ask for one.

I like to switch the video through my receiver because it's one click on the remote and you're there... no macros, no extra buttons, no wrong inputs.

I have a Yamaha receiver (different model). If I use any of the audio only inputs (like CD or Radio) it passes the last video signal through. For instance, if I'm watching a DVD and then switch over to the radio, I have the DVD picture on my TV while I have the radio audio coming from my speakers.

Hey dude- It looks like you have a digital coax (RCA) connection labeled "CD" on your receiver. If you're not using the CD input at all you could plug it in there. What do you have connected to your receiver?
