Do you have a model # for your Panasonic? That would help. I looked some up online and found some that I'm guessing you might have: SC-HT740 SC-HT940 Is either one of them it? Either a model or a list of the different inputs and outputs would be a workd of help. Same goes for the cable...
Sorry Jay, I missed the part about the cable box. I assumed you were connecting a home theater in a box/DVD player combo to the TV. Could you tell us about your different components? Model numbers and/or connection types would be especially helpful. The specifics can be different, but big...
Danklin- Did you ever get the OSD working on the receiver? Something that *could* be the problem is a bad S-video cable. I'd try DVD -> TV like you had it before. If that works, I'd try the other S-video cable in the same set up. If that works, I'd do one of two things... 1) don't connect...
Have you tried hitting the TV/Video button? It sounds to me like you gave yourself two options (RF and S-video) and you're only looking at RF. Then again, I could be wrong... again. As far as S-video being your only connection question... if you want to use the DVD/VCR combo to change TV...
Mario- There are test DVDs out there. Two DVDs meant specifically for this kind of thing are AVIA and Digital Video Essentials (DVE). They both have sections on sound set-up and video set-up. Also, check out the THX optimizer on a DVD that's THX certified... I think they have the same kind of...
Randi- It looks like your receiver should upconvert composite and s-video to component. My reccomendation is to run everything through the receiver, both audio and video. Then it's just a simple click on your remote and you don't have to worry about inputs on the TV. This will actually take a...
Clinton- Your TV has two different scan rates... one for 480p and one for 1080i. It's a CRT (analog) and as such really doesn't have a native resolution per se. Try setting your X-box to output 720p... it should take it. If I'm right, it will process the signal and output it at either 480p or...
John Brown- Your TV is "HD Ready." It lacks an HD tuner. This doesn't mean you can't watch HDTV... it just means you can't watch HDTV by plugging an antenna into it. You need an HD source. From what you've described, your cable box is not an HD cable box. Call your cable company and ask for one.
1. Wife won't let me 2. I'm waiting for say a $200-$300 player 3. I'm waiting for more titles 4. I'm waiting for the technology to settle out 5. I'm waiting for a winner in the format war
Like a tube fuse? I should only be so lucky. I'll take a look. Thanks! Actually, I am getting some good use out of the old DV-05 right now. We have one of those large entertainment centers with glass panel inserts on the doors. I used to have to leave the door open if I was trying to use the...
I have a Yamaha receiver (different model). If I use any of the audio only inputs (like CD or Radio) it passes the last video signal through. For instance, if I'm watching a DVD and then switch over to the radio, I have the DVD picture on my TV while I have the radio audio coming from my speakers.
Here's a link to the Secret's website. One of the things they do is DVD reviews & benchmarks. According to them, there are plenty of DVD players that do seamless layer changes... check out the second to last column. This link pulled up DVD players $300 or less... I was surprised to see how many...
HELP! I've been using an X-BOX for a dvd player because my Pioneer DV-05 (1998-ish) won't turn on. If I hit the power button, the red standby light blinks off and then back on. Any ideas? Oppo? Thanks,
Hey dude- It looks like you have a digital coax (RCA) connection labeled "CD" on your receiver. If you're not using the CD input at all you could plug it in there. What do you have connected to your receiver?
Danny- Just wanted to let you know, I've also been waiting since last Tuesday when I ordered one. Just keep waiting, just keep waiting, waiting, waiting.
Funny thing I found this thread. I sacrificed my subwoofer to an electrical storm last month. I was sitting on my computer (smart idea) and Kaboom! My mouse shocked me throught the little scrollie wheel (now dead). Then a second later... hummmmmmmmm POP! Me: "Hmmm, the tv picture just went...
Dave- Just a note of warning: DO NOT PLUG YOUR SUB DIRCTLY INTO THE WALL!!! I never thought my house would be struck by lightning. Until it happened last month. Among the things that got fried (KitchenAid mixer, 19" tv/vcr) was my subwoofer. Kaput. Dead. Please put yours on a surge...
Also of note is a bigger power supply and a better screen which also includes better anti-glare capability. I bought a 50HDX82 from Onecall.com for $2069.10 shipped, and it will be here on Tuesday. I bought it because of the reasons posted above as well as for the screen. My house does a great...
Don't think the weather should be a problem down here in West Texas. And like Joe, me and the wife just went up to the big city to do some furniture shopping. We found a piece that we really liked (entertainment center). I just hope I can squeeze my reciever in there. It is such a beast. My TV...
