Help, hissing/buzzing sound from my speakers

Martin, It's worth mentioning...if you have dimmer switches in your house...it might be related. I get buzzing out of my system when the dimmers are on, whether in the theater or upstairs in the kitchen. The level of buzzing is related to the setting on the dimmer. If the dimmer is off, no...

    DVD-A or SACD Player

Manny, Sounds like the Pioneer DV-45A is a sound way to go (oh yeah, I just bought one myself). For the extra $100+ you're not limited to one or the other formats, you have access to everything out there (including a two free disc promotion from Pioneer), gives you bass management (100Hz) for...

    Setting Up a Pioneer DV-45A

Brian...I think you said this earlier and I'm thinkin' it's the way to go... Get the ICBM and use the 45A as simply a transport for DVD-Audio/SACD. The crossover flexibility and bass boost of the ICBM would solve all the problems (I think)

Universal players w/ analog bass management

Yeah, Brian, we're both thinking the same thing. Bryce, a few questions if you know: - What crossover frequency is used (80, 100, 120Hz) for the bass management in the 45A for DVD-Audio/SACD? I don't care about the DVD-Video as my receiver will take care of that. - Why do you think the...

Universal players w/ analog bass management

Anyone know of any players out there that perform bass management on DVD-Audio/SACD sources and output through their 5.1 analog connections. I want to avoid the additional purchase of something like the Outlaw ICBM to give me the signal I need.

    Integra DPS-8.3?

Steve, I am interested in hearing a bit about the Integra's bass management capabilities as it applies to DVD-A and SACD. Not having full range speakers throughout, I'm still waiting for a player that provides full bass management (80Hz or otherwise) sent through the 5.1 analog outputs.

    Bi-Wire Speaker Cable

I just upgraded to Synergistic Research Alpha Quad cable - two 25 foot lengths. I am running the Quad cable from my Denon POA-5200 amp to my main B&W 603's. Very pleased with the results.

Do any DirecTV receivers allow you to map local channels into the 01-99 channel area?

My Hughes E86 (HDTV receiver) lets you connect a terrestrial antenna or cable and scan the NTSC channels into the Advanced Program Guide. The channel numbers are the normal one or two digit numbers. ------------------

Do any DirecTV receivers allow you to map local channels into the 01-99 channel area?

Preston, With the local channel package, all the locals automatically map to their respective local channel numbers (4, 7, 9) on all my Hughes receivers; E25 and E86. The Hughes E86 (HDTV receiver) additionally lets you specify local cable and OTA sources using zip code for automatically...

Anyone using a satellite dish cover?

Dave, that's one I hadn't thought of. I'll have to look into that one further. And the thing is...I've been using PAM on our snow thrower every year to help deal with the snow removal. ------------------

Anyone using a satellite dish cover?

I was curious about anyone's experiences using a satellite dish cover. I've got the DirecTV elliptical. We received some snow a few days ago (in June no less) which totally wiped out our satellite signal. This is something I really want to take care of before the real stuff flies. How much...

    Electrical Interference with A/V Equipment

I am considering moving our HT equipment to another location in our home; one that will introduce various technical considerations such as cable length, power, etc. Of significant concern (I think) is that this room shares a wall with the outside main electrical panel. The room is 4x7 feet...
