The information of AVR-4806 is finally available at Denon website: http://www.usa.denon.com/catalog/products.asp?l=1&c=2 ... and indeed it uses the same Burr-Brown PCM-1791 DACs (and same number of DACs) as the AVR-3805. 4806 now uses THREE NEW DSP by TI (as in 5805?) instead of the Analog...
In fact, another interesting question will be when will Denon upgrade the much dated AVR-4802R as well... since the 380x and 280x lines have been updated twice in the last two years, or Denon is going to drop the 480x line just like Yamaha dropping their 3x00 line to keep the distance between...
That's right, GarAbl. The AL24 processing is only for the front 2 channel, DACs used are 96kHz/24bit, there is no DDSC, and the remote is more like the 2803's. The new 2805 also has automatic room EQ (needs a microphone), video up-conversion to component video, pure direct mode, corss-over...
Found the new AVC-2890 at the Denon Japan website. It has the 3rd generation 200MHz SHARC processor with AL24 processing, 100w x 7, DPL2x, 100MHz video bandwidth, and RS232c port. It will be available at 110,000 yen (US$998.37) in Japan in late May 2004. Looks like it will be marketed as...
Not sure of its significance but it's kind of interesting if one performs a search of "DVD-3900" at this link: http://www.usa.denon.com/catalog/pdf...lCorrected.pdf :D
Thanks for your insight, Greg. In fact, I'm considering a few external amps such as the Rotel RMB-1075, Parasound HCA-1205A, Halo A23, and Marantz MM9000. Music quality is more important for me than movie, especially 2-channel music. Also want to use the external amp to off load the internal amp...
I am contemplating about getting the Denon 3803 and connect it to an external amplifier. This setup will run me about $1,800. At the same time, a Denon 4802R costs $2,000, only $200 more. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience/heard of the difference between Denon 3803 with an external amp...
My Sony DVP-S7700 has been faithfully working very well for the past 4 years. However, I'm thinking about getting a new progressive scan one that has audio and video quality on par with my 7700. Then I bump into these three new ones: 1. Denon DVD-2900 2. Sony DVP-NS999ES 3. Yamaha...
I saw a mail order advertisement in an UK audio magazine this past weekend. It had Denon AVC-A11SR (European version of 4802R) with an subtitle "Replacement ETA Late '03". I wonder if the folks living in Europe would hear anything about it? :rolleyes
Check out the Sony Australia site. It seems like the new STR-DA5000ES has pretty high THD :rolleyes Surround Mode: 0.7% at 170W x 7, 8 ohm, 1kHz Stereo Mode: 0.09% at 150W x 2, 8 ohm, 20-20kHz http://www.sony.com.au/Objects/image...0_HIFICOMP.pdf For comparison purpose, here are the...
Check out the Sony Canada site. It seems like the new STR-DA5000ES has pretty high THD: Surround Mode: 0.7% at 170W x 7, 8 ohm, 1kHz Stereo Mode: 0.09% at 150W x 2, 8 ohm, 20-20kHz http://www.sony.com.au/Objects/image...0_HIFICOMP.pdf For comparison purpose, here are the THDs of...
Check out OneCall. They expect to have STR-DA5000ES at US$1500.00 by Sep 30, 2003 and STR-DA9000ES at US$4500.00 by Oct 31, 2003. They also indicate that DA9000ES has DVI switching. Here is a brief summary: Model Expected by Price -------------------------------------- 1000ES Jul 31, 2003...
I think the new Integra separates have arrived in the US already: DTC-9.4 THX Ultra2 Processor (with 7 balanced outputs): http://www.integrahometheater.com/m...ss=separate&p=i DTA-9.4 7-Channel Digital Amplifier: http://www.integrahometheater.com/m...ss=separate&p=i Anyone knows...
It all make the new Integra THX Ultra 2 processor DTC-7 (US$1676.02) look like a much better deal than Denon's AVR-4802R! http://www2.onkyo.co.jp/what/news.ns...a?OpenDocument -- Eric :D
Does anyone know how the 4802 compares to the newer 3803? Particularly, their 2-channel music performance where the 4802 uses Analog Devices DACs and the 3803 uses Burr Brown's newer DACs operating in differential mode in 2-channel mode. Anyone? -- Eric :)
Did anyone try it? What will happen to the speaker itself and the sound? The reason I asked is that the my speakers home are all 150W rated but some of the newer mid-high end receivers and amps have 170W or 200W per channel rating. I wonder what would happen to my speakers even if I can afford...
I have the same question as Mark wondering whether the unit is referbished with upgrade... especially since a new TX-DS989 costs $2,999 and the upgrade itself costs $500... the OneCall deal sounds fishy to me. Can anyone verify that deal? -- Eric
Hi Albert, I read from AVS forum that B&K is coming out with a software fix for AVR-507 in two months... Anyway, I auditioned both units and the Denon 3803 (just for kicks) using music CDs. I'm disappointed by the Denon 3803 and its 2-channel DAC differential mode is not as good as 5803...
Though there seems to be quite a number of B&K Ref50 or AVR-507 owners, I haven't any insights about this subject. I take that I have a defective unit and I should go for exchange?
-- Eric
Just got the B&K AVR-507 and mated it with my Infinity Overture 2s, CC-3 center channel, QPS-1 surround speakers. I like the sound but there is one thing that really annoys me.
When the unit is turned on from sleep mode to on mode, in addition to the internal switch click sound, all...
"I do have the Denon 5803. Previously, i had a B&K 307. After extensive time with both receivers, i've determined the B&K sound is what i prefer. I traded the 307 for the 5803 to play with all the features on the Denon. Now that B&K's new line will soon be available, i'm betting many of the...
How does the spec of B&K 507 compare to Denon 5803? I know that B&K has better MOSFET amp section and simpler remote than Denon 5803 (that AKTIS is just too bulky). However, I would like to know how B&K Ref 507's sound compares to Denon 5803 especially when Denon 5803 has the pure direct...
An interesting observation on the tentative brochure of AVR-5803: Denon no longer mentioned any thing near software, firmware, or hardware upgrade capability of the unit. That leaves Denon a lot room to decide whether upgrade is a financially sounded option in the future without any legal...
I finally saw the Sony DVP-NS900V at a local dealer and got a chance to touch/feel/play it... without my favorite DVDs. It seems to me it's using the DVP-S9000ES drive mechanism and internal parts but it can play multi-channel SACD. Even the black brushed aluminum chassis looks cleaner to me...
