OTA antenna question - is it possible to....

The "bigger than my house" antenna didn't pick up any digital broadcasts within my attic. It was able to pick up some analog, but no digital. The double-bow-tie was able to receive NBC, CBS, PBS in digital via RG-59 run across my living room to the outside. I get a great signal on my dish, I'm...

OTA antenna question - is it possible to....

use the existing rg-6 QS cable that I'm currently running to my dish & run a diplexer to connect an OTA antenna for local HDTV reception? My father-in-law gave me the clip-on terk antenna for Christmas that attaches to the dish, but it's not strong enough. I live about 25 miles from the...

Need some help on subwoofer connection/placement....

Well, basically I've decided that there is only one place to locate my subwoofer - due to the room design, I'm forced to put it in a small nearby coat closet, unless I would like to use it as a coffee table (the thing is HUGE). All of my speaker wires are run inwall, and would like to do the...

    HDTV OTA receiver suggestions?

I've searched the archives, and am trying to decide between the Samsung Sir-T151, the Panasonic TU-DST52, and the Zenith HDV420.......they all seem to have the same features, but am wondering if one stands out in regards to performance/reliability? Are they all going to have the same picture...

    Samsung SIR-T151 not compatible?

I did not see an HDTV area, so I'm posting this here.....hope it's okay. Anyways, my wife was going to purchase a Samsung SIR-T151 at our local Tweeter a few weeks ago as a Christmas present for me (us). She was told that this unit is not compatible with my television (Mits WS-65311), and he...

    Pioneer Elite VSX-41& A-35R

I'm contemplating a new receiver purchase, and would like your opinion. My current receiver is running hot, and I don't know how much longer it will last (Technics SA-DX730 paired with SH-AC500D). It (the receiver only) overloads and turns off when I try to play a CD. Anyways, I'm currently...

    Kenwood VR-6060

So, Brian, what you are saying is that the 6070 has the same specs as the 6060 - only the 6070 is certified? Does the certification mean nothing? If not, there had to be a reason that one is and isn't........I'm asking this because I have been looking at getting the 6070, but wouldn't mind...

    Pioneer Elites.........a few questions?

Okay, so I am finally in the market for a new receiver, and I know I am coming to the right place for advice. There are so many different features out there, it's hard to keep them all straight. I have researched all I can, and have found a few models that stand out to me. Particularly, the...

OK, they said there were no dumb questions...

Ultimately, you will want a component rack with shelves. I have the matching cabinet for my 65" Mitsubishi, and I love it. I'm sure you can find a stylish rack within your price range.......search for flexy rack on this forum, and check out what others have built; They're quite impressive. Don't...

    Surge Protection/Line Conditioner

I recently purchased my Panamax 4300 from etronics.com for 120.00. It looks nice in my A/V rack ;) I was very impressed with the build quality, and the overall performance of the unit.

    speaker wire gauge

That speaker wire is definately adequate. It looks good, too. Personally, I just use the 12 guage stuff from Home Depot. It's cheap, and it works (equally as) well. Just my opinion, of course. I think that quite a few others here share my feelings as well.

    JBL PSW-D110 Problems

Y'all need to check out the reviews of this sub (particularly of the 12") on www.audioreview.com . I own the 12", and I'm thankful it's still running. This is a widespread problem with this model of JBL's, and they seem to crap out after about a year's use (just enough time for the warranty to...

How do I wire in "Series?"

First off, I have searched extensively in the archives, but have found nothing. I'm attempting to correctly install my bass shakers. I will be wiring 3 to my couch, and 1 on my loveseat. I currently have them wired wrong. I have them (the 3 in the couch) running in parallel, and the 1 in the...

    Rca = Junk?

I, personally, will never buy an RCA product. IMHO, it's best to save the extra cash in order to buy a quality product - rather than an inferior product made for the basic consumer that doesn't know any better. I used to work for DirecTV, and had to deal with RCA on a regular basis.......and...

    Yet another bass shaker question....

Ok, I think I get it...still, the only thing affected by the filter will be the shakers, right? It won't be affecting the sub whatsoever, isn't that correct? Wait...by Y-ing the LFE on my receiver, am I also cutting the .1 channel in half (or even making it weaker)? I hadn't thought about that.

    Yet another bass shaker question....

Hey Anthony, can you translate that to english? ;) Just kidding of course, but is there something else that I should get instead that produce the desired effect? Is roll-off a negative thing? I suppose you're saying that I'm losing about 3 decibles at 50hz, but will that really matter when I can...

    Yet another bass shaker question....

Yes, I did run a search, but I'm really hoping that one of you can provide some additional information as to mounting these to a couch, and also where I can find the low-pass filter (50hz)? I cannot find these online anywhere. Anyways, I understand that I'm supposed to mount the shakers to a...

    Banana Plugs don't fit.........now what?

I guess it is called spring clip.......It's just a basic terminal where you depress the lever to open, slip the wire in, and lock it back. So I need a pin connector? Is the Radio Shack version just as good as the Monster Cable? Are these pins small enough to fit? I think that the most the...

    Banana Plugs don't fit.........now what?

I just purchased a spool of 12guage speaker wire, and brought it home to find out that it's too big to fit in my speaker terminals, and the receiver's terminals also. I went to Radio Shack, and picked up some crimping banana plugs, but those are too big as well. I really hope that someone can...

    Connecting components to surge protector.....help?

Well, I just purchased a Panamax 4300 surge protector, and am wondering if there is any special way that I'm supposed to connect the components? I notice that most of the components have a Power outlet or two on the back of each that enables me to basically have everything daisy-chained to each...

Black bars on 16:9 Television? Why?

I just bought a Mits 65" 16:9 television, and am very happy with the picture. On regular cable viewing, it stretches the image across the screen, but when I watch a movie, I still have the black bars.......WHY? I have a Panasonic CP-67 5-disk DVD changer, and I have it set to 16:9...

    Settings on Mitsubishi WS-65311.....Please help?

Finally! My television was delivered yesterday, and I'm trying to get the set calibrated, but don't have the Avia disk yet. The set was shipped with everything at 100%, so I turned down the brightness, contrast, etc. until I can get it calibrated. Is there anyone out there that has calibrated...

    What size/model Mits to get??

Hello, my fiance and I are getting married in 2 weeks, and we have chosen an RPTV as one of our wedding presents. We have gone to several dealers in the area, and have decided that we like the picture on the Mits's. My question is, we have the option of either getting the 2002 model Medallion...

I saw the new 2003 Mitsubishi's last night.....

Please forgive my ignorance, but I am not familiar at all with firewire/dvi. From what I understood last night at the dealer, firewire was only available on the Platinum, Platinum Plus, and Diamond series (which is more than I am able to spend) - only the rptv's with an integrated HD receiver...

I saw the new 2003 Mitsubishi's last night.....

I'm sure they're everywhere by now, but I'm wondering what everyone thinks of them? I'm specifically looking at the WS-55311, which is the Gold series 55" HDTV. The picture was really impressive, and it seemed more mellow compared to the Tosh 57hx81 (seemed a little bright to me, but they might...

I have the opportunity to get this RPTV through a reputable dealer...

    Best multiplayer game besides Halo?

I'm trying to find an xbox game that I can play with my girlfriend (multiplayer) that doesn't involve lobbing grenades in her direction, or the occasional melee attack. She seems to get quite upset when I sneak behind her and shoot her in the head a couple of times. She says she can "never see...
