Brent, If you decide to start with The Original Series, which I would highly recommend, here's a list I've compiled of the top 10 TOS DVDs: Volume 14: City on the Edge of Forever/Errand of Mercy Volume 20: Mirror, Mirror/The Deadly Years Volume 8: The Menagerie (Parts 1 and 2) Volume...
As a die-hard Kings fan, today kind of sucks!
While the Lakers are a great team, certainly as good as the Kings, the Kings beat themselves in Game 7. I was sad to see it happen.
To all the Lakers fans here, congratulations.
To all the Kings fans here, go Nets! ;)
I have to agree with Dugger to some extent. Even though there are petitions and probably a good demand for this film, releasing it is going to cause a stir among some. Perhaps rightly so.
I just don't believe Disney can release this title in the fashion it deserves, with full glorious...
Disney has never released Song of the South on video in the U.S. However, they have released it in other areas of the world.
What would stop Disney from releasing a region free DVD release in Europe or Japan?
Then, those of us in the U.S. could order it from abroad and the American public at...
Christian,
I hope you don't get the impression that most of us feel this way. You maintain a wonderful site, which I have visited prior to this thread's existence. Your motives are clear when visiting the site. You love this film and would love nothing more than to see this classic released...
I feel that if Walt Disney himself has changed a short or film, then it should stand. However, I'm quite upset with the Clock Cleaners edit. I believe the edit was made prior to this release, so they may have just missed it. However, I'll be eyeing the next wave of Treasures very carefully...
While watching the supplemental features the The Mummy Returns, I noticed something that really shows the difference. I rented this in pan & scan (couldn't find widescreen anywhere), so I'm not sure the widescreen version show this.
Under the supplemental features, there is a segment that...
I put in my vote.
Please Disney, find a way to make this happen. Song of the South is a part of American history, a chapter in our history that only the rest of the world can read.
Colin, what a wonderful, indepth review. :emoji_thumbsup:
I would agree that if you are a fan of Disney and Disneyland specifically, this is a must have disc. I've read accounts of opening day at Disneyland, but never had the pleasure to see the footage. It adds such depth to see some of...
I preordered these titles back in July at Amazon (and patiently waiting for status to change from "shipping soon").
Disney must have decided on the 150,000 number months before that. I'm wondering if they've underestimated the explosion of the DVD format and the demand for these titles. At...
I'd quit while you're ahead. I smoked for about 10 years (quit 5 years ago). Here are just a few of the drawbacks that you will experience:
1) You acquire the lovely fragrance of an ashtray--a good human repellant.
2) You're always running out of cigarettes, which is definitely a pain...
I decided to look into this issue a little further. It does not appear to me that Disney has selected these shorts based on "censorability" alone. Of the 58 titles that comprise the two shorts collections (Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphonies), 8 titles have known censorship issues. I pulled...
At least the alteration to the film only affected the "look" and not the content. So often these days, we're getting extra scenes, and things being digitally modified. Care was taken to remain as true to the original as possible.
At first I was concerned, but after viewing Snow White, I...
I've had the same problems with Disney discs. I'm a big Disney fan, and it's the primary reason I purchased a DVD player.
The only solution I could find was to purchase a new player. Neither Disney nor Toshiba was willing to do anything about the problem. One of the two of them are doing...
Jay, I haven't received mine yet. My wife told me the same thing again today. No movie in the mail. Drat!
They sent a confirmation stating it was shipped out on 10/2/01. Sure hope it gets here soon.
Troy,
Not sure. If you can preorder it, I would go that route. You won't have to cut your cover to remove the Proof of Purchase tab. That's the main reason I've avoided Disney mail-in rebates. I can't stand the thought of marring my DVD cover.

As a fan of the series (actually, my wife introduced me), I'm all for a box set of this series. Hopefully there will be enough interest in this title for BMG to release it.
However, I would want assurances that my money will be safely refunded if the project never gets off the ground...
I wouldn't hold my breath for a Christmas release. There would be more substantial rumors flying around at this point.
However, I do find it promising that it's back on the release schedule. The last word was that it had been dropped off completely. Let's just hope it's not Christmas of 2002!
There were early rumors that the "Music in your Soup" segment was being reincorporated into the movie. They were going to ink and paint the original pencil tests (please forgive me if my terminology is incorrect here, I'm not quite an expert in this area).
It now appears that this segment is...
In the stereo field, there were people with such fine-tuned hearing, they could practically tell you the signal-to-noise ratio of an amp by just listening to it.
Is this a case of people doing the same thing with video? I personally don't know what halos, ringing, and edge enhancement even...
Help!
I'm getting conflicting information here! I keep hearing two completely different stories on the quality of this transfer.
On the one hand, I am hearing experts complaining that this was really botched up and on the other hand I'm hearing members stating that the transfer is the best...
