I sent them a detailed reply with links and photos. This was the response:
Hi Neil,
Thank you for your interest in the new Fandango at Home, a Fandango company.
I see, thank you for providing that information. I have our tech team looking into this issue to get you access to your Fandango at...
I just got this email from Vudu. They think I'm having a problem with the "Aliens (Special Edition)."
Hi Neil,
Thank you for your interest in the new Fandango at Home, a Fandango company.
Thank you for providing the information requested. Which of the four featurettes for Aliens (Special...
Be aware it's the same situation as Vudu. The picture has upgraded to 4K/Dolby Vision but the audio has downgraded to 2.0. This was released theatrically in DTS and even the Laser Disc had an AC-3 (Dolby Digital) track.
Also of note, the movie now opens with a note about the new transfer but it...
I remember when my dad got the CAV Criterion 2001. I called him and he was telling me about it. I was excited about the lip reading scene because I figured that would look great letterboxed. I remember his pressing being noisy even when it was new. There were lots of speckles during the overture...
There's a decent Fanflix sale on with all of the Star Trek movies and other Paramount sci-fi and there's a coupon code (PHASERS10) for 10% off your final order but don't be fooled as I was. I checked a few movies to see where they could be redeemed and they all said "Apple" and "Vudu" so I went...
I did that and they quickly refunded the purchase. Thank you for the tip!
I find this part of the email puzzling: "Kindly do not purchase or rent the above-mentioned title again as we will not be able to refund it moving forward."
My Cutthroat Island hasn't upgraded. I had a $3 coupon for Vudu, where the 4K version was on sale for $7.99, so I bought it there. But now I think I'm going to ask for a refund. The webpage says "Dolby Digital Plus 5.1" but I'm only getting 2.0 and from what I've just looked at, the compression...
I wasn't faulting you but the Music app. I don't use it nor would I want to, it seems.
The LLL product pages have a place to click for the hi-res cover art. It's under the description.
Yes, I bought the James Bond movies in 4K and The Man With The Golden Gun had a bad reel change and Tomorrow Never Dies had the 5.1 audio incorrectly mapped.
Currently the "Special Edition" cut of Aliens refuses to play on my Apple TV.
The Bond issue was resolved. Aliens is ongoing.
Almost a...
NOT IN 4K WITH HDR BUT.....
We watched "Defending Your Life" on Apple TV last night and it was clear this was a new transfer. I don't have the Criterion Blu-ray which says it's sourced from a new 4K transfer, and I'll bet that's what this is. After the film I looked at the streaming copies on...
There's no denying it. Robert Harris got a quote from Bill Hunt in this post.
"Aliens was mastered from the 2K scan used for the previous Blu-ray release."
They haven't replied since the other day. I wish we had a simple way to get to the engineers. We have the code so they can troubleshoot it. This shouldn't be difficult.
