I have an HDTV-ready monitor, and a couple stations in our town now broadcast HDTV signal. I want to receive and show that signal on my big Toshiba 65" RPTV. I'm not real familiar with the hardware options out there, so please feel free to post recommendations. Let me know what receivers...
I know ALL about this. I have documented much of my project in this web site: Link Removed
I build a frame around my Toshiba TW65H80 and then used acoustic panels to surface this "false wall." Worked great.

There are definitely good arguments for a front projector, but I selected and really have enjoyed the Toshiba TW65H80 as shown in my HT pix. I built it into the front wall to give the "plasma screen" look, and the blacks are deep even with room light up --this is a key issue that you will...
I did my HT basement panels using the concept mentioned by Brett Robert above.
You can see my HTF page at http://www.hometheaterforum.com/bbs/...ent/28723.html
Be sure to click through to my personal HT page to see even more details on the acoustic panels.

Thanks, JamieW, for citing that old thread that I started last year.
Just to update, you will notice when you follow the threads that I have added a link to my HTF picture page that takes you to a lot of new pictures and commentary.

Thanks for the comments.
Several have complimented the lighting. I would have to say that this area of the HT is one of the most pleasing...it turned out just the way I envisioned it.
One of my nifty DIY innovations are the accent lights along the shelf in front of the room. These are cheap...
AMAZING!!!
I loved your web site. The 3D graphics are great, but the coolest thing was the 60 sec intro. How do you actually play that intro. Do you have to have the CD in and then the Pronto synchronizes the CD with the lights, screen etc? And then starts the DVD?
You clearly have a...
Nice room, todd.
Do you find that the couch in front is used first, and then people sit in one of the theater seats. Or do people prefer the theater seats?

Personally, I like plain painted wallboard. I have also used acoustic panels (homebuilt...see my post here: Link Removed )
The fabric for acoustic panels should be heavy so that it gives an unwrinkled look. The upholstery fabrics are good choices. Many colors, textures.
I think the...
Thanks for the comments.
It is true that the RPTV was sitting there all through construction. It is on wheels, and I could move it when I was working on the frame, but I never really worried much about it when I was doing the other stages of construction, including the ceiling. I remember...
Hi folks,
I've been gone a long time from HTF, but I'm back...at least for the periodic check-in.
I finished up my theater some months ago, and finally put together a pretty comprehensive story for you. You will want to check out my page if you are interested in built-in RPTVs, DIY acoustic...
