    Sony SCD-XA777ES buying opinions

Hey all. Im flirting _very_ seriously with buying one of these online. My current CD player is an Arcam 7Se. It sounds great, but I have an insatiable lust for the sony after reading about it on this and other bulletin boards. Any advice/opinions? I want SACD something fierce, Im just...

    Sacd

Thanks John. My reciever definately has the seperate inputs and the passthrough. What I was asking was if the electronics would even send the higher res sound properly, or if it would squish it down to CD resolution if its not built to handle it right.

    Sacd

Hey Guys. Im thinking of swinging out and picking up Sonys multi-disc SACD changer (purely as a test, if its cool, Ill use it as a starter, if not, oh well and back it goes) But here is my question: Does my reciever need to be able to send the higher sample rate signal properly? How would I be...

Anyone have problems with Dell (ADVICE NEEDED)?

Jacob, Unfortunately I think at this point I don't have a choice on returning my product. This whole cycle of bad service has taken place consistently for like 4 months now. I think Im too late for a return, unless there is a stipulation that I am not aware of... ------------------ Tosh...

Anyone have problems with Dell (ADVICE NEEDED)?

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for something like this, but I was wondering what other peoples experiences were with Dell computer orders? Mine has been an absolute mess of inept customer service, rude representatives, and botched communication between both Dell sales and Dell...

    Question about Bi-Wiring?

I have the studio 60's. I have them Bi-amplified with 2 arcam amps. This is really the way to go (bi-amped over bi-wired). They sound fantastic, very detailed and uncolored. Wee! ------------------ Tosh TW56X81 HDTV Panasonic RP56 prog scan Arcam Diva AVR100 Arcam Diva P85 power amp Arcam...

    Sony NS-700p going head-to-head with my RP56

Yea, that is odd. I A-B compared these 2 units excessivlly, looking for some reason to keep the Sony because I liked its features. The comparisons were done both via using the same input and switching, and also through seperate inputs and jumping back and forth. The sony image clearly had an...

    Sony NS-700p going head-to-head with my RP56

Hey Ron. I tested the exact same 2 units. What it all comes down to for me is picture quality, and comparing the exact same frame from a movie (Toy story 2 title) revealed that the sony model had ugly artifacting and had a hard time with the blue colors around the borders of the logo (this...

    Panasonic RP-56 Progressive is out!

The RP 56 has been available for several weeks in my area. I previously had a 5109 Tosh, so I picked up the RP56 and the Sony 700P. As far as image quality goes, the Panny beat the Sony by far, and was quite a bit better than the 5109. I sold the Tosh and am taking back the Sony. The panny has...

Has anyone tried a new progressive scan dvd player????

I believe I payed 250 for it. The sony was 300. I found the picture on the panasonic much more cleaner and noise free than my 5109, which I adored for a year at least. It handles intense blues much more cleanly as well. Im continuing to try out different models, but right now the panasonic is...

Has anyone tried a new progressive scan dvd player????

I recently picked up the Sony 700p (I believe this is the unit you are refering to) along with the panasonic rp56 (also prog scan) so I could compare them side by side. The Panasonic wins the match hands down. Direct comparsions of the 2 showed that the Sony produced a very noisy image where...

Please listen to my (long) tale of woe...and offer advice (Toshiba TV issue)

The 40H80 is a great set, I have the TW56X81 (the bigger brother to it) and its a great set for the money. I_believe_that out of all the models you mention, the 40H80 is the only widescreen set of the bunch, which, for me being a big film freak, is hands down the best bet. Get this and a...

Which laptop for portable DVD player?

Hey Hal. Yea, the inspirons come with Dolby headphone. It actually works pretty well and does a very good job of somehow making it sound like the fronts are in "front". It has some settings for different room types as well as a perfect reference room. As far as Bass and Treble controls go, off...

Which laptop for portable DVD player?

The Dell inspiron 8000s are amazing little units. Mine has a 32 meg G-force card in it and 512 megs of ram. Smokes with DVDs, games, and any high end graphics work that I throw at it. These G-force cards are duel head as well, so you can run 2 monitors from it. I use my TV as my secondary...
