It's here! Jeanne Dielman is #1 in the critics poll and 2001 is #1 in the directors poll:

Yeah, I saw on another website that they tried to get 7-disc cases and couldn't, and that each spindle will hold two discs in the Complete Collection case.
I got my bonus disc order a couple days ago, but it arrived with the spine of the bonus disc torn, ripped through the plastic and the paper. Disc itself is fine.
I'm not understanding how the whole series fits into the empty Complete Collection empty box, though. There are only four nubs to...
This is the first I've heard of this release. I've been buying the ClassicFlix "Little Rascals" restorations and loving them, so I may have to get these. But I am curious... it was restored in 4K, so why no 4K discs?
I've only had my 4K Blu-Ray player for about six months, and I'm constantly disappointed at what isn't being released on 4K. Especially newer movies, where they release a 4K digital version but only a standard Blu-Ray. Why? Cost, I suppose.
Anyway, if it's a blockbuster or a popular franchise...
Both. Dolby Vision or HDR10, it makes no difference; the feature doesn't work properly on any 4K disc.
No, I'm not that worried about it. I don't think I'm going to get it fixed. I'm just more annoyed at being told that my basically brand-new player needs to be "repaired."
I recently was given the Panasonic UB820 4K Blu-Ray player as a gift. After a few weeks, I noticed that a feature I rarely use, single frame advance, doesn't work properly on 4K content. Here is what I found:
-On 4K Blu-Ray discs, my UB820 will play forward in slow motion just fine, but it...
Someone with some degree of inside knowledge told me recently that if this Andy Griffith Blu-Ray set does well, then CBS "may" consider an "I Love Lucy" Blu-Ray series set. I was told that the "Lucy Ultimate" Blu-Rays didn't sell well, and that's why there were no more after Season 2.
I know, but it's well over twice the price. There just isn't another 4K Blu Ray player with Dolby Vision for a comparable price to the UBP x700. I wish the freezing issue wasn't so widespread.
I just got the Sony UBP x700 and straight out of the box it wouldn't play any disc from the 4K Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection without freezing up later in the movie. "Psycho" especially. Tried wiping the discs down, tried turning off the update options that people have recommended...
Does anyone know if the automat scene was shot in a real automat? It certainly looks real, but I can't find any info definitive info online other than some New York location shooting was done.
No, they have not. Though some DNR has been done on the 16mm elements, the body of the shows don't feature any excessive noise reduction... I can clearly remember noticing grain.
In my opinion, this is the single greatest TV season box set ever. Every single thing I could have thought to do...
Thanks for that. Just ordered it and "Andy Griffith," which is the same price, with my Red Card. Guess I'll have to return my Amazon order of "Lucy" when it arrives.
I understand the outrage about the price. However, I never hear any such comments about Criterion pricing a 90-minute movie with a list of $39.99, less than half the Amazon price of this set containing an entire season of a show.
I'm uncomfortable paying 75 bucks for it, but it's one of the...
OMG, more than I ever dreamed of. So when they say "night of broadcast" presentation, they really mean it. Wonder if they'll do the same for "Andy Griffith," which is supposed to also have the "night of broadcast" option. Thanks, Matt!
Thanks for the review, Matt. (Strangely, I just posted this and hit "add comment," and it didn't post, so I'll repost again.)
Do you mean the actual full-length Philip Morris commercials are included, not just the Philip Morris segues into commercials? Previously only the Criterion laserdisc...
I would disagree with that. There is a certain style to musicals of the mid-to-late 1960s that is makes them very identifiable to that period: Big, long musical numbers that do not forward the plot in any way and often contain very over-the-top dancing. Large sets that really LOOK like sets...
Yeah, the video quality on the Serling specials if awful. They almost look like YouTube videos. The quality of the series episodes with Nimoy is good, but not fantastic. Clearly these were not transferred from the camera negatives. (The show was shot on film, of course.) It looks to me like they...
In my opinion, "North by Northwest" is his best work. :) But then, I would never in a million years count "Singin' in the Rain" as one of the top 50 films of all time. I don't really understand the love for that film.
That would be MUCH easier than what I had to do in 2002, which was manually type out each critic's and director's top ten list separately in Word, then alphabetize them so that identical titles would be grouped together, and count them. Still can't believe it's been ten years. The new list is...
That happened when I saw it on Capitol Hill in Seattle back in, oh, 1998 or so. I should have known when, during the whistles at the opening of the film, someone in the audience was whistling back. And then EVERY time characters broke into song, there were giggles. They laughed at the rape...
