A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bounty -- in Blu-ray

No doubt that would be a better sound source IF available. Recently purchased Cat People on Blu-ray and while the picture may be a little better than the DVD the sound is not, sounds almost like it is mono by comparison.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bounty -- in Blu-ray

Have owned this on LaserDisc and DVD, now have the Blu-ray version. I did notice a few sparkles/speckles here and there plus some color fluctuation. Will have to compare it to the DVD one of these days. The closing theme music did play in its entirety like the LaserDisc version did. The DVD...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Big Country -- in Blu-ray

In reference to the screenshots, look at the shots with wagons and stagecoaches, the wheels appear to be round. If the ratio was not correct the wheels would have an oval shape.

    OTA Antenna question

Unless you have a need for Lo-Band VHF (2-6) then I would use one of the new Winegards intended for Hi-Band VHF (7-13) and UHF. Click this page for info. I use a Winegard PR-9032 (UHF) and a Winegard YA-1713 Hi-Band VHF (7-13) antenna. Hi-Band VHF antennas have much shorter elements than full...

Seeing Red - will you stock up on the inevitable clearance sales on HD DVDs?

For the folks storing their HD DVD players: make sure you use the players every few weeks. Belts (if used) tend to dry rot when not used and electrolytic capacitors tend to go bad from lack of use (they are chemically activated with a polarizing voltage).

For monitor adjustment using SMPTE Color Bars on the Sony BD titles click here. At Wikipedia is info on using the other patterns found on the Sony BD. I measured the levels of the SMPTE Color Bar on the Sony BD using a Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-ray disc player. It was measured on the Y of the...

What is the BEST way to measure your room responce?

Anthony Gomez - If you have access to SMPTE standards, then look at SMPTE 202M and SMPTE 222M. Make sure to use the the modified X curves. The X and N curves are intended for rooms of 5300^3 or more. Chris Tsutsui, Pink noise is white noise filtered at a slope of 3 dB per octave, not 6 dB.

Combining Silver Sensor with VHF antenna

Chris, For all 75 ohm connections the Channel Master Model 0549 should do this. http://206.155.192.130/pages/cjs1.htm The Rat Shack has a 15-1293 that does the same. Other combo's are available, common to have 75 ohm VHF and 300 ohm UHF. A splitter is the same as a combiner, just used in...
