I am in complete agreement with Stephen Hopkins...please don't let Minimalists and Purists who want to divert you to unnecessarily expensive B&W speakers...some of them like to sit around with rowing machines and $2,200 receivers and think about driving their BMWs...but do not have what it takes...
Hi Peter I am really sorry that you got a defective HK DVD player...HK does not do enough Beta Testing...and they have way too many software and hardware issues...some Minimalists and Purists recommend HK to innocent newbies...I do everything I can to protect innocent newbies and everyone...
Hi Timothy I am glad that you see the reason...I am glad to be of assistance...please resist the temptation to take the advice of Minimalists and Purists... Please keep in touch with me.
I too have posted many helpful threads...and some people have thoughts about trying to stop me from posting helpful posts that try to protect innocent newbies from Minimalists and Purists like John Brill...I have every intention of remaining on the Home Theater Forum...Minimalists and Purists...
Hi Paul With all due respect...don't listen to the minimalist and purists...HSU has some great subs at great prices...I won't stand by and let innocent newbies get trapped into buying unreliable HK receiver, DVD players or any other problem plagues equipment...I continue to recommend Denon...
Hi Timothy I like the Denon 2807. You may wish to take a look at: http://www.hsuresearch.com In particular, the HSU VTF-2MK3 as an alternative to the SVS PB10-NSD. I prefer to have a built-in crossover on my subwoofers. It is not a necessity to have a crossover, however it makes the sub...
Hi Anthony I agree with John Brill: I would also look at the Onkyo 604, and the 674. I also agree with John Brill with regard to the Yamaha receivers and especially the Denon 2307. Best Regards
Hi Darren: I almost bought the Sony KV-40XBR800. But I spoke to my niece and she said, "if you are going to get a big screen TV, get a REALLY big screen TV", so I ended up buying a Toshiba 65H84 CRT RPTV. The picture is great and I would not buy anything smaller. Most people regret not buying...
Hi Brian I agree with SethH. My personal preference is DLP, especially 1080P DLP. I saw a $1,600 Philips DLP side by side with a 60 inch Sony SXRD, and they looked almost identical. If I had to purchase a new TV, I would probably get a 65 inch Mitsubishi DLP,or a Toshiba DLP. Consumer...
Hi Eric I have a pair of KEF Q70s. Please send me a Private Message. It is in the top right hand corner, in red. We can discuss the KEF speaker package and some alternatives. Best Regards
Hi Brian Andrew is right. JBL has been making good quality speakers for a long time. I have a pair of classic JBL L60Ts. They have the original titanium tweeters. They have very nice walnut veneers. Please keep in touch with me as well. We can help you proceed with your speaker purchases...
Hi Hirt I am not speaking for Mr. Stephen Hopkins I can recommend the AV123 X-Series of speakers. I have an X-Sub on order in White Shadow Maple. The entire X-Series is sold out until 3/8/07. A system composed of the X Series would be beautiful and a very very good set-up. I can also...
Hi Max I agree with Al Anderson If you are willing to consider receivers from other manufacturers, I can recommend Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo and possibly Pioneer. Especially Denon and Yamaha. Sony has a significant share of the receiver market. Please keep in touch with me.
Hi Anthony FeisalK is absolutely correct. The Pioneer 1016 doesn't do audio over HDMI. From my past experience JVC is not very popular. I can recommend receivers from Denon, Yamaha, and Onkyo. Please keep in touch with me.
Hi alan I am glad you settle on the Onkyo 604. It is unfortunate that things got a little messy. I try to help everyone who is looking to buy equipment. I want people to get the best performing, most user friendly, fully featured, most reliable, and highest rated HT/AV equipment that they...
Hi Tony Do you know anything about the benbag mount?...I haven't quite gotten around to mounting my Nuvi 660...busy trying to organize my wedding...thanks for your prompt reply.
Hi Mylan This thread is not about you...you may not remember...however I tried to assist you when you were thinking about buying a Certified PreOwned Warranty for your wifes BMW...I hope that you followed my thought process and did not wait until your wife drove 15,000 miles to get the oil...
Hi Brian If you want some very attractive real wood veneer bookshelf speakers for $219 a pair plus shipping...the AV123 Onix X-Series in White Shadow Maple are an excellent choice...they are sold out until 3/8/07 and for good reason...for about $368 plus shipping...Ascend Acoustics makes a...
With all due respect gene c I have as much respect for individuals who can't respond to the fact that in the poll done by Ascend by owners of Ascend speakers...8 voted for Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer or Onkyo and only 5 voted for HK...and with regard to "Godwin"... you should check with John Brill...
Hi JB Since you have referred to yourself as a Minimalist and Purist...I will continue to refer to you as such...how is it that with all of your expertise with the English language you simply can't begin to explain what "sweet sounding" is...I have every intention of trying to protect...
Hi Greg The only Phillips plasmas that I have info on are the 9731 and the 9631...they rated rather well, in particular the 9731...however, the 9631 rated about as well as the Panny TH-50PX60U...none the less, I have consistently advised people to go with the Panny. YMMV
Hi Gene c Of course you don't want to see the grief that others are experiencing...just on one page alone I saw enough grief to last me a lifetime...all in good fun of course.
Hi Gene c I took a look at the Ascend Forum...and they did a recent poll of which receivers Ascend users preferred to use with their Ascend speakers and Pioneer, Denon, Yamaha and Onkyo outscored HK by 8 to 5...please check their Forum if you would like to verify this statement. :)
Hi Gene c With all due respect...now that you have brought Ascend into the discussion...how is it that they are selling the HK 645 for $168 more than OneCall...that is not what I consider user friendly information...all in good fun of course.
