I wouldn't think that field-sequential 3D would work on a progressive scan display. Field-sequential 3D by its very nature requires interlaced fields to display a 3D image. This is because data for one eye is displayed in the even scan lines, and data for the other eye is displayed in the odd...
I just saw a Wal-Mart TV commercial where they were advertising their movie section. They were highlighting Dr. Dolittle 2, and the footage they showed was in widescreen! A little later on the same channel I saw an ad for Dr. Dolittle 2 itself (an ad by the studio, not a retailer) and all the...
It's not just you. I can't press the stop button at the main menu either! My Toshiba 3109 gives me the little "no smoking" circle with the line through it indicating "you can't do that here" when I press the stop button. Have you tried this on any of your other Disney DVD movies?

Well, crap. I've got the same problem on my SD3109. Here's my stats for what they're worth:

You can access this data on Toshibas by pressing zoom,6,0,6,zoom in stop mode. I think some players actually require there to be no discs in to do the...
I was doing some computer work at a friend's house the other night, and she showed me her brand new widescreen TV. Needless to say, I was quite jealous. I switched it on, and noticed that the image being displayed was very distorted. It looked terrible! I asked her what was wrong with the...
So I'm sitting at the breakfast table this morning watching Cartoon Network when, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny (stop-motion) reindeer. And a talking snowman. Yes folks, The Christmas marketing blitz has already begun. I've not even turned on my...
The video commentary format is a great idea! There should definitely be more commentary tracks like this one. Kudos to DVD producer Jonathan Gaines for this wonderful extra.
One of the most interesting things discussed in the commentary track is the sequel that's being planned. (Okay, okay...
I hope this lot hasn't already been said, but here goes:
As I understand it, the pan-and-scan vs. letterbox debate is fueled mainly by ignorance. Now before anyone thinks I'm being arrogant, go to your dictionary and look up the definition of ignorance. Here's what mine says: Ignorance is the...
This is another great use for DVD Profiler. You can export your DVD database in CSV format, read it into Excel or another spreadsheet program, and total up the column with the prices in it. I'm just not sure whether to use the MSRP or the actual price paid for the insurance value. And rare discs...
I don't think anyone's mentioned this one yet. All you Russell Crowe fans should snag a copy of Hammers Over the Anvil. Believe me, the first 5 minutes will make you almost forget the fact that it's pan and scan. I've not actually watched more than the first 5 minutes, because the power went out...
