I went a slightly different direction. Using AnyDVDHD and ImgBurn, I strip the region coding out of the discs and reburn them to BD-R. This works great except for stuff encoded at 1080/50i. My Panasonic BD player and Sony TV can't process the 50i stream.

My HDDVD player is the add-on for the XBOX 360. I only have two discs - the first season of "Star Trek" and "Galaxina". The BD of Galaxina doesn't appear to be as complete.

The orginal theatrical cut of "Star Trek VI" has never been issued on Video in any format. I think they did some final tweaking after the film was released to the theaters to 'help explain' some stuff.

Except that switching to "Field" gives you 1/2 of the image. There are those here that will probably have the exact technical aspects, but it essentially shows only the odd numbered scan lines, repeating that same information on the even lines. That really isn't an option in my opinion.

I haven't played the whole set yet - but I did start a surface scan with Plextor Tools and it seems to read through the worst disc without a problem. I find it very odd that players can still track through that scuff area, especially in parallel with the track.

I contacted Sony for this problem and they had me send in the suspect disc for analysis. Clearly it's not a disc specific problem, but a mastering error. Let's see what shakes out from it.

As a point of clarification, there should not be a layer change on this title. The widescreen version is on one layer with the Full frame version on the other. Any freezing or pauses are unacceptable. BTW, my DVL-919 froze during Chapter 30 on the widescreen playback. Blane

Does this problem affect just the widescreen version or is the full frame version is affected as well. I've got the widescreen version and I've had no problems on the Pioneer DVL-919, Panasonic DVD-A110 and on the RealMagic Hollywood Plus. Blaine
