The Dec/Jan Absolute Sound liked the Yamaha S2300, I didn't know that there was a MkII version coming. I'm awaiting a Denon 5900 review. My current hi-rez players are: Sony SCD-777ES (SACD) Panasonic RP-91 (DVD-A)
I don't recall ever seeing that scene and I have seen this movie numurous times on VHS, laserdisc and now dvd. Maybe that scene was added for network television.
After seeing how good EFNY looks with this new transfer I know wish we could get a new 16:9 transfer of John Carpenter's The Thing so I could replace my current dvd.
I have some pixelation during some of the featurettes on the Alien3 disc 6. I haven't watched Alien Resurrection yet, I hear that it has many DTS drop-outs. I'm wondering how my gear will handle it.
I want this one as well so I can sell off my flipper. I also want a remastered 16:9 Raging Bull. I thought Warner/MGM were doing a Martin Scorsese box set for 2004 or 2005.
Seeing the original opening complete with credits is great. I remember owning the special edition laserdisc and the bank robbery scene being pretty short. I have the expanded original soundtrack on cd and love the music that was in the bank robbery.
I received mine today, I'm gonna check out the deleted opening first. I have to get rid of my bare-bones dvd now along with Alien & Aliens since I got the Quad box now.
My Alien 3, disc 5 came loose and had scratches on it. I finally watched this tonight and noticed pixelation and some lock-ups. Discs 1-4 were fine. I haven't watched discs 6-9 yet. I want to get a hold of Fox and get a replacement disc. Anyone here have info in getting in touch with Fox...
I noticed the same problem in the scene were Parker and Brett walk the corridor on lower decks. I have to play back some scenes in Dolby Digital and listen to the difference.
I watched Alien tonight and I had 3 DTS drop-outs. The drop-outs did not occur in any new scenes, I watched the director's cut version. My dvd player is a Panny RP-91 and my receiver is a Denon 5700.
My box arrived today and Alien 3 which I believe is Disc 5 came loose. It has some surface scratches on it. I'm gonna have to watch it first now because I hope it plays fine. I wonder if Fox will give replacements to anyone who has defective discs due to packaging.
Wondering what metal heads in here have this awesome new box set from Slayer. I have the limited ammo box set. Very cool, I'm working my way through it. I love the 'blood digi-pak' cd of the live show from Anaheim, CA. The booklet is also great along with the Slayer flag and backstage pass replica.
Steven, Yes, The Gathering is an amazing album. It is one of my favorite Testament works, especially that it features Dave Lombardo on drums. Check out First Strike Still Deadly also, great compilation of old school stuff.
Some of the ones I have include, The Abyss Special Edition, states it is 16:9 enhanced, it is not. Goodfellas, states 16:9, it is not Cast Away states 2.35:1 for aspect ratio which it is 1.85:1
I have Slayer: Live At The Warfield, Overkill: Wrecking Everything and Sepultura: Chaos DVD. I know Six Feet Under has a live DVD out, Cradle Of Filth is out or I believe coming out. I wouldn't mine checking out the Cannibal Corpse live DVD either. As for (new) Testament, I believe you mean...
Sorry but no, they are not. I don't know why MGM did this. Wouldn't they believe the single copies would sell more. I need Thunderball, Diamonds Are Forever and For Your Eyes Only. I believe a forum memeber posted that they will be available seperately in March-April.
I have a Panny RP-91 feeding a Mitsubishi 46805 which has been ISF calibrated. My father owns a Denon 1600 feedinga Sony Trinitron 32" TV that is approx 8 yrs old. He is willing to trade players with me. Will I see a big difference with the Denon? I'm using Better Cables Silver Serpent component...
