Sorry, but saying that a mono film should be re-mixed into multi-channel is the same thing as saying that a black and white film should be colorized or that a 4 X 3 film should be cropped to be "widescreen". It, like Jaws is a mono film and I am content with it that way.
I too love this film...
I'm a Gator (1989) and grew up in Jacksonville, so as much as it hurts to say it....Georgia does look like the team to beat in the SEC East. Florida certainly has the talent, but is an untested commodity with the new staff. Mr. Spurrier is not someone that can easily be replaced......:frowning:
With Williams' reliability problems this year, their drivers really don't seem to have ever had a chance at the championship, though they certainly do in any given race.
I know that its easy to criticize MS since he is on top of the F1 world, but to suggest that he can only win because he has...
George,
I have no hard feelings, just did't really get where you were coming from. I just don't consider things that ended 137 years ago to be "political" anymore. I am happy that our country is still united, but my ancestors fought for the CSA, so I'll go on thinking of them as the "good...
Heads up - TCM will be showing two films on our candidate list tomorrow,7/9.
His Girl Friday 11AM CDT
The Big Sleep 8PM CDT
I also has Intolerance on order, so I'm making some progress.
Still have't found Sunrise, but I am really getting into silents these days.
Political view ... WTF are you talking about???!!! I think that the politics of the Civil War are long past.
If you noticed the grinning smiley you might have realized that I was just giving my brothers to the North a little ribbing. They won the war, so that's all we've got:).
Also...
Schuey was winning at Benneton, what have they been able to do without him? F1 is very expensive and more of a team sport, while NASCAR, being a spec series where all the cars the same with different labels, is more of a pure drivers game, but it just is not at the same level. F1 drivers are...
OK, I'll bite. I'm "down" to 7 so don't go callin' for the revote yet. :)
The Conversation
This was disappointing to me. While I appreciate the glimpse into another profession, I just couldn't get into or really care for for any of the characters. Without a doubt this was the worst film...
Kid - "Well who IS on our side?"
Col. - "Six hundred million screamin' Chinamen."
Kid - "I thought there was a billion screamin' Chinamen."
Col. - "There was."
:D
This is a truly great B-Movie.
Sure it has political sub-test...What doesn't? RED DAWN only stands out in this regard in...
Holy cow $40 for a bootleg VCD? I'd send it back if the auction was at all misleading. Heck, you can download VCD's of this for free on IRC if that't all your interested in. There's no reason to support SW pirates. I won't mention the channel since this subject is touchy around here, but IRC...
Well, its time that I get off my ass (or should I say ON my ass :))and get the films viewed.
Have any of you seen the Kino version of The Genera] if you can recommend it, I will just buy this one as I like to have the classics on hand and I am really learning to like the silents.
Oh the scorn...
Bad news from Glenn Erickson (The DVD Savant), who originally posted that the DVD would indeed be 20fps, He now reports the following:
The above is from: http://www.dvdtalk.com/dvdsavant/spec.html
Don't tell Kino, but I'm still going to buy it. :)
Frank,
Thank's for hosting the clip for download.
I don't get to see Conan often enough, but the Triumph bits are great. I still think that original Wesmisnter trip was the funniest (first seen and all) but this one was very good.
I'll go as this was my favorite genre growing up.
I'll assume that I don't have to mention Tolkien :)
A few series that I really enjoyed are:
Robert E. Howard’s “Conan” stories. – Ace publishing has a 12 book series that collects all of Howard’s short stories with supplementary tales by De...
