My modest home theater...had to downsize a bit after moving into my own home. Atmos is the last major upgrade I'd like to do as I have moved up to 4K.
Thanks for the contest
Thanks for the contest! Definitely would love to upgrade to Atmos...heard the demo at Best Buy and it was very impressive, much more immersive than I expected. Plus the fact that the HDMI out on my Marantz is on the way out...
I saw the new Epson 3d projector out at Best Buy and it has been selling for around $1500. Looks really nice, but some reports of gaming lag has put me off it a bit. The new Optoma DLP 3d just came out as well.
I was pretty disappointed as well. Zoolander is my favorite comedy of all time, and war movies are my favorite genre so I figured this would be a slam dunk. It started off promising, but once they were left in the jungle, it fell off for me. There were some good jokes, but there was way too much...
Projectorcentral.com is a great resource. They have reviews and comparisons for pretty much every model of projector. It also has a great calculator that tells you image size, lumens, etc. based on distance you're mounting the projector from the screen. It'll give you a better idea of each...
My digital RS model displays the "0.1 to 0.9" range of a decibel as little squares under the number, so 75 with 3 squares on the display would be "75.3".
Yes, so far the new bulb seems to be working fine, with about 250-300 hours so far. I didn't have any service lights blinking during the blackout problem either, the projector itself was running as if everything was normal.
I had the exact same problem, right around the same time too. Luckily I had a extra bulb that came free with the projector, so I switched to that. I was going to write to Optoma about the problem but still haven't gotten around to it. Other people on AVS had similar issues, and were told by...
I don't know what prices you'd be getting but I thought I'd let you know Circuit City has the KEF's on clearance in this week's ad for $699, or $300 off. Although I don' have this set I do have a set of 4 KEF iQ9s, which use the similar UniQ driver, and they are fantastic.
I have for sale an Optoma 92" Graywolf II projector screen, 1.8 gain high contrast grey screen. Ideal for any projector setup, the retroflective material is especially useful for optimum light output from shelfmounted projectors. The grey screen material is great for producing deeper black...
I have the HD72 and it looks better on my 92" screen than any flat panel or rear projection set I've seen yet. It has DVI and HDMI digital inputs, plus component, S-Video, and composite inputs. It's terrifically bright, with good blacks and great colors. Don't forget the screen is important too...
It was just a behind the scenes video diary of the Booze Cruise episode taken by by Jenna Fischer, the actress that plays Pam, showing the cast goofing around as the filmed the boat scenes on location overnight. It was decent, but nothing to worry about.
I've been using a Greywolf II screen for about 4 months, so far I really like it. Good colors and black levels, and I only paid $150 for a 92" pulldown. Best Buy wants $2500 for their Stewart screens, and my setup looks way better than anything I've seen demo'ed in a store.
The Greatest American Hero first season set contained the pilot for The Greatest American Heroine, which obviously never took off, but had the original cast back to wrap up their roles from the series and pass the suit on to a woman.
I have the HD72, and it's terrific. I have a 92" Greywolf II, with a gain of 1.8 That package sounds like alot of the ebay dealer packages, I almost went with one of those, but didn't want the ceiling mount or to deal with more rebates. I got mine at Projector Point, mostly because of the free...
I picked up a Optoma HD72 for $1599 after rebate, plus it came with a free bulb (which will run you $300-400 alone) plus free shipping. I use it mostly for gaming, cable, and now HD DVD (and upconverted DVDs). It has the highest lumens and contrast ratio in the price range, and great colors...
I have the HD72, bought it last week from ProjectorPoint. It came with the $300 rebate, and a free replacement bulb, shipped free. As of this week, they still had a few bulbs left, so that might help you in you decision. I posted some pics of it in action at...
Just bought an Optoma HD72 this week. This is my first projector ever, replacing a 36" Toshiba CRT HDTV from 5 years ago. My father has a Infoucs 4850, which got me interested in the idea of a projector. I was going to go with a 40-46" Samsung 1080p LCD, but for half the price I decided I...
