New series just dropped on Netflix. I viewed episode one a little while ago and enjoyed its brashness. One description I read on the Internet likened the series to The Hangover meets Mission Impossible. It is essentially a very broad and raunchy action / comedy thriller. Surprisingly a lot...
A new six part documentary by Ethan Hawke and a large number of participants covering the lives and careers of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. Based upon a series of transcripts of interviews with many individuals associated professionally and personally with the duo. Hawke has assembled a...
Just a reminder that the sixth (and sadly final) season of The Expanse returns on Amazon Prime on Friday, December 10th. This will be a six episode season with the finale set to air on January 14th, 2022. Really anticipating the return of this series.

EDIT: Just noticed that this was posted in the GILLIGAN'S ISLAND Thread.
Just saw on CNN that Regis Philbin passed away at the age of 88 (about a month shy of his 89th birthday.) Always enjoyed his appearances on David Letterman. Condolences to the family and friends. RIP Mr. Philbin

I had the pleasure of watching a two hour presentation on the partnership between NASA and SpaceX earlier Monday evening (the title of the thread). For anyone who is interested ini viewing this program it will air several times on the Discovery channel later today. While it did have a...
Just read on CNN that Ginger Baker passed at the age of 80. For my money, one of the great Rock and Roll drummers; maybe my favorite. Always loved his work on Disraeli Gears, particularly on Tales of Brave Ulysses.

Well I just lost the HDMI output on an A/V Receiver that I recently purchased, following a similar episode on my prior A/V receiver. (Both times involving lightning and loss of power to the residence.) The audio component works just fine, since it is split off before the HDMI output which...
I've been in eager anticipation of this show since I first heard it was coming to Netflix. I read the source novel by Richard K. Morgan back when it was first published in 2003 and I've revisited the novel at least two or three times in the past decade.
I watched the first two episodes earlier...
Just read that Jon Polito has passed at the age of 65. He was always a great character actor and he appeared in (nearly) countless films. I always enjoyed his performances and he will be missed.

I'm not certain if any of this information is new, but saw this and thought I'd post a link.

Shows that are listed as renewed are very likely for the spring/summer of 2016 only. For instance...

Stewart cemented his relationship with Howard's mom (Deb Deb). Best bit was when Raj and Howard tried to call from Howard's car and got the answering machine message. :)...
My current Front Projector (Epson 8350 UB) lost its only remaining HDMI input this weekend. The first one went out last summer after a lightning strike. Anyway, the FP is out of warranty and I'm reasonably certain that it is going to be pretty expensive to replace the input board or whatever...
Kind of early, but here is the first preview of Season 4 from Comic Con. Needless to say, big time spoilers if you have not watched season 3 of POI.

Just read on the web that Eli Wallach passed at the age of 98.
I believe I will view The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly this weekend in remembrance of a great character actor.
Condolences to his friends and relatives.

Fans of older television and SF will remember this talented actor. Just saw on the web that he passed away at the age of 91. To get a feeling for the longevity of his career, look at his credits on IMDB. Very impressive.
I remember him for a lot of his televised SF roles such as -

While watching television I saw a new Windows Phone commercial and what stood out was the drawer of remote controls that was featured in the opening scene for the advertisement.
I immediately recognized the god-awful HD-DVD remote from Toshiba (fourth remote from the left).

A friend forwarded this link to me. Some of these I've seen previously and some are new. I've never seen the Godzilla photos before.

Job well done, NASA! :patriot:
I'm pretty excited by both the achievement of safely landing a 1 ton robot explorer on Mars and the information that will be obtained by said explorer in the coming years.

Earlier today, a link to a blog by Roger Ebert was posted on the HTF and discussed in several other threads. It seems like as good a topic as any for film enthusiasts. Link to Ebert's article @ http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2010/07/the_myth_of_a_perfect_film.html From the blog...
Saw this over at the HD DVD site. Accurate? Don't know, but if so then it is nice to see Universal stepping up production ( oh my aching wallet.) Universal Studios Annouces New HD DVDs for September - Walter.
From High-Def DVD Digest Syriana, and Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang will be released as 'hybrids' on June 20th. A week later Lethal Weapon will be released as an HD only title on June 27th. http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...les_in_June/99 - Walter.
Saw this info over at AVS. Pretty decent price for an HD DVD disc, IMHO. (I was on the fence when this title was initially released, but this was too nice a price to pass up. Ordered a copy earlier this morning.) - Walter.
Having watched a number of more recent titles on HD DVD, like many others, I have also been curious as to how older features would fare in this domain. Nice to hear such positive impressions with regards to the image quality of this title. (And yes, my anticipation of other Warner Bros. classics...
