    News for Corrs fans

I caught the recent Pittsburgh tour stop at the Chevrolet Amphitheater. The show was great overall, very entertaining. It was nice to hear Sharon perform "No Frontiers" a la "Unplugged". I wasn't a fan of the "Borrowed Heaven" CD upon its release, but gained a new appreciation after hearing a...

    News for Corrs fans

Sorry to disagree with the predominant opinion but I find BH to be completely over produced and too electronic. BH is just too much a departure from the celtic folk/pop roots of the orginal Corrs sound. Euro-disco doesn't do it for me. I'm optimistic the EPK acoustic version will make its...

    $58 DVD player at Radio Shack with Region-Free hack...plus $10 mail-in rebate!

I've resisted picking-up these bargain, hackable players in the past because of the NTSC/PAL anamorphic issues, but I took the dive today. I've had a copy of The Corr's Unplugged a friend brought back from London over a year ago that I couldn't play. I didn't want to spend the bucks on the...

    Reference-quality Bluegrass Recordings?

Try the Tony Rice and Norman Blake collaboration CDs. Rounder did an exemplary job on the mastering of these. The acoustic guitars sound warm, but very distinctive. Vocals are excellent, as well. SamR.

Thanks, Scott. That's what I thought, but the on screen text still looks a bit distorted. Thanks.

480P Mode In XBox SSX Tricky...How?

I know that SSX Tricky on XBox supports 480P, but is there a video option screen to choose it from ? I can't seem to find anything from the option screen ? Help is appreciated. Thanks. SamR.

    Introduction of AIX Records

The Nitty Gritty Surround DVD-A sounds tremendous, particularly the DTS track...real ear candy and cutting-edge demo material. Highly recommended if you enjoy the warmth of acoustic instruments, i.e. mandolins, fiddle, banjo, guitar, etc. The Jennifer Warnes vocal tracks are just pristine. An...

Anyone have the Alison Krauss *New Favorite* SACD yet?

Keith, in my humble opinion the music selections on "New Favorite" are the equal to "Now That I've Found You: A Collection." The redbook audio is reference quality particularly the title track which sounds breathtaking (pardon the hyperbole). Another standout is Allison's cover of Dan...

    The Corrs Appreciation Thread

Patrick, I guess I'm the 5th Corrs fan here at HTF. I'm looking forward to the VH1 release also, but more importantly I picked-up on a rumor that Warner would be releasing a Canadian "Unplugged" DVD sometime later this year, much like they did with "Live In London". Unfortunately for many...

What is your favorite music format?

I really think 2-channel SACD (and some of the newer DVD-A titles with the 192K stereo) is where it's at, but I've been less than pleased with the frequency of new releases. On the other hand, I've picked-up some redbook CDs recently that sound wonderful; Josh Groban's debut release, "New...

Corrs Live in London Dvd region 1

For those interested ! The Region 1 "Corrs Live In London" has been released as a Canadian Import. It is Region 1 NTSC with what appears to be the same feature set as the Region 2-6 release, i.e. DTS/DD 5.0, anamorphic WS. I haven't had a chance to view the disc yet but I did find it at Sam...

    Bad rap for Cambridge Soundworks?

Scott, I previously owned the CSW Movieworks 5.1 and for the money (purchased as re-furbished on Ebay) it was a darn good rig. Prior to that I owned Boston Acoustics but couldn't afford the VR 5.1 ensemble and wanted a 5.1 set-up, desperately. The affordable solution was the CSW. I have...

Corrs Live In London DVD: R2 Only ?

I really don't understand Warner's perceived reluctance to release both the "Unplugged" or the "Landsdowne Road" concert DVDs. This is particularly baffling in light of the popularity of "In Blue", in both CD and DVD-Audio formats. I can't believe there's not a significant market for these...

just had my first DVDA demo

On a calibrated system DVD-A sounds wonderful. I'm running a Panasonic RP91 through a Yamaha RXV 800 and with most discs the sound is stunning. Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours", "Buena Vista Social Club" and "Brain Salad Surgery by ELP" are excellent examples of the potential of this technology. (I am...
